Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort & Spa is set to host a special culinary collaboration this June as Cassava, the acclaimed restaurant from Kochi Marriott Hotel, takes over The Reef for a 10-day celebration of Kerala’s rich food heritage.
Titled Kerala Vishesham: Cassava Takes Over The Reef, the festival will run from June 12th to June 21st, 2026, bringing the authentic flavours of Kerala’s coast, backwaters, and traditional kitchens to Chennai. The experience has been designed to showcase the diverse culinary influences that have shaped Kerala’s cuisine over generations.
The specially curated menu draws inspiration from Malabar spice routes, Syrian Christian culinary traditions, and the rustic flavours of Kerala’s backwaters. Prepared using traditional cooking methods and hand-ground spices, the dishes highlight fresh seafood and regional ingredients that pair perfectly with The Reef’s beachside setting.
Guests can enjoy a wide selection of signature dishes, including the tangy Meen Mango Tawa, flavourful Crab Rasam, and crispy Koonthal Porichathu (squid fry). The menu also features fresh seafood grills along with two of Kerala’s most celebrated rice dishes, the aromatic Malabar Chicken Biryani and the slow-cooked Malappuram Mutton Biryani.
Speaking about the collaboration, Pallavi Mishra, Director of F&B at Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort & Spa, said, “We are thrilled to bring the incredible culinary legacy of Cassava to Chennai. This festival is a true storytelling experience through taste. By partnering with Kochi Marriott, we have brought down traditional recipes and authentic spices to ensure every single bite feels warm, rooted, and thoroughly evocative of Kerala's rich history, from slow-cooked coastal curries to generational Syrian Christian recipes.”
The festival offers both lunch and dinner services, giving diners an opportunity to experience Kerala’s diverse regional cuisine throughout the day. Whether guests are revisiting familiar flavours from home or discovering Kerala’s culinary traditions for the first time, the event promises an immersive dining experience.
