Internationally recognised visual artist Dr Akhter Husain presents Vedic Inspirations, a solo exhibition featuring 25 original mixed media artworks that explore India’s spiritual and civilisational heritage through a modern visual language. The exhibition will be open from 28th February to 8th March 2026 at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bengaluru, inviting audiences to step into a calm and immersive artistic experience.
The exhibition unfolds like a gentle raga, where each artwork carries its own rhythm, texture, and emotional flow. Inspired by temple architecture, ancient symbols, and shared cultural memory, the series reflects a thoughtful search for balance between form and meaning. These works mark a deeply introspective phase in Dr Husain’s artistic journey, shaped by years of reflection, study, and creative exploration.
A key highlight of Vedic Inspirations is Dr Husain’s unique mixed media approach, which he calls “Akhterism.” His process blends digital imaging with mineral dust, crushed semi-precious stones, dental composites, and plastinated wood. The result is richly layered surfaces that feel almost sculptural, encouraging viewers to not just see the artworks, but also sense the quiet rhythm within them.
Dr Husain’s creative path has evolved alongside a distinguished professional career as an orthodontist, academician, and photographer. An Associate of the Royal Photographic Society, UK, he has received several international awards and showcased his work at renowned venues in India and abroad, including India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bengaluru, as well as exhibitions in Switzerland and Dubai. He currently serves as Professor Emeritus at Yenepoya University, Mangalore.
Through Vedic Inspirations, Dr Husain offers a meditative visual space that reflects the timeless rhythm of India’s spiritual traditions while engaging with contemporary artistic expression. The exhibition invites visitors to pause, reflect, and connect with the subtle harmony that exists between tradition and modern life.
