Bengaluru is set to get a taste of Indonesia as Grand Mercure Bengaluru at Gopalan Mall welcomes Indonesian Home Chef Rika Udayani to La Utsav from 18 to 27 September 2026. The 10-day culinary experience will showcase the flavours, aromas and traditions of the Spice Islands through a specially curated menu.
Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, Chef Rika developed her passion for Indonesian cuisine after moving to Oman as a newly married woman. As Indonesian food was difficult to find there, she started preparing the dishes she missed from home. What began with a longing for familiar flavours gradually grew into a passion for her country's cuisine.
Over the years, Chef Rika has continued to explore Indonesian cooking and develop her skills, drawing inspiration from the flavours and culinary traditions of her motherland.
During the festival at La Utsav, guests can explore a wide variety of Indonesian dishes, including Nasi Padang, Nasi Goreng, Soto Ayam, Sate Ayam and Bakso. The menu will also feature traditional appetisers, soups, main courses, rice dishes and desserts.
Among the specialities are Gado Gado, Martabak Telor, Sate Madura, Sate Lilit, Soto Betawi, Rendang Ayam, Ayam Rica Rica, Gulai Ayam, Nasi Uduk and Nasi Kuning. Guests can also enjoy traditional Indonesian desserts such as Lupis, Dadar Gulung, Klepon and Es Cendol, among other specialities.
La Utsav offers an all-day dining experience with global favourites, Indian specialties and indulgent buffets, along with an interactive live kitchen and global cuisine presented as a food theatre. For the Indonesian festival, the dining space will take guests through fragrant rice preparations, aromatic broths, rich curries, grilled specialities and traditional desserts.
The festival gives Bengaluru diners an opportunity to discover the distinctive flavours of Indonesia while experiencing the culinary traditions brought to the city by Home Chef Rika Udayani.
