This April, JW Marriott Kolkata is offering a culinary getaway to North Africa with its specially curated Moroccan Food Festival at JW Kitchen. Running from the 18th to the 27th of April, this dinner-only event invites guests to indulge in the rich flavours, spices, and stories of traditional Moroccan cuisine—without leaving the city.
The festival is a tribute to Morocco’s diverse culinary heritage, drawing inspiration from Berber, Arab, Mediterranean, and African cultures. Guests are welcomed with a refreshing cup of Moroccan Mint Tea, a signature beverage known for its sweet, aromatic blend of green tea and fresh mint—symbolic of hospitality in Moroccan culture.
The menu kicks off with an array of classic starters such as Harira, a hearty tomato and lentil soup; Zaalouk, a smoky roasted eggplant dip; and Briouats, crispy phyllo pastries stuffed with delicately spiced meat or cheese.
Main course offerings are equally indulgent, with highlights like Chicken Tagine with Preserved Lemon and Olives, Lamb Couscous with Seven Vegetables, and Vegetable Pastilla—a sweet-savoury pie layered with spiced vegetables, cinnamon, and almonds.
No Moroccan meal is complete without a sweet ending, and the dessert spread does not disappoint. Guests can enjoy Almond Briwat, honey-laced Chebakia, and nutty Sellou—each prepared using traditional ingredients and age-old techniques. Naturally, another pour of Moroccan Mint Tea rounds out the experience.
