Little Soi is set to welcome the Lunar New Year with ‘Beyond the Great Wall’, a specially curated 10-day culinary festival that celebrates the vibrant street food traditions of Chinese regions beyond the Great Wall, thoughtfully blended with Southeast Asian flavours. The festival will take place across Little Soi outlets in Chennai, Coimbatore, and Kochi from 6th to 15th February 2026.
Inspired by historic trade routes and cultural crossroads, the festival shines a spotlight on cuisines from Yunnan, Guangdong, Sichuan, Shandong, Xinjiang, and Inner Mongolia. These regions have long shared culinary influences with Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the wider South East Asian food landscape. Each dish reflects the essence of the Lunar New Year, where food symbolises abundance, longevity, renewal, and togetherness.
The festival menu is designed with strong symbolic meaning. Seafood dishes such as prawns and fish represent prosperity and abundance, while hand-pulled noodles stand for long life and continuity. Cumin-spiced lamb reflects warmth and unity, and preparations using fresh vegetables and tofu highlight balance, renewal, and adaptability for the year ahead.
Menu highlights include Guizhou Sour Chili Chicken Skewers, Yunnan Flower Pepper Beef Slices, Xinjiang Cumin Lamb Flatbread, Qingdao Prawn & Chive Dumplings, and the iconic Rou Jia Mo, which represents the harmony between heritage and modernity. Comfort-focused offerings such as Lanzhou Beef Hand-Pulled Noodle Soup, Sichuan Chili-Braised Noodles with Poached Chicken, and Ningbo Braised Seabass Fillet form the heart of the menu. Traditional vegetable dishes like Anhui Pickled Pepper Braised Tofu and Heilongjiang’s Three Earthly Treasures add depth and balance to the overall experience.
Rooted in Lunar New Year traditions and aligned with the energy of the Year of the Fire Horse, ‘Beyond the Great Wall’ celebrates bold aromas, layered textures, and the culinary stories of regions shaped by movement, migration, and cultural exchange. The festival reflects Little Soi’s philosophy of presenting authentic Asian street food through a contemporary and thoughtful lens.
Through this festival, Little Soi invites diners in Chennai, Coimbatore, and Kochi to experience the coming together of Chinese regional cuisines and Southeast Asian street food traditions, where each dish tells a story of heritage, celebration, and new beginnings.
