Novotel Ahmedabad, in collaboration with ibis Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Tourism Malaysia, Adabi, and AirAsia, has launched the ‘Taste of Malaysia’, a vibrant 10-day celebration of authentic Malaysian cuisine and culture, taking place from 1st to 10th August 2025 at The Square, All Day Dining.
Bringing Malaysia's street flavours and warm hospitality to the heart of Gujarat, the festival is designed to offer guests a truly immersive experience of the Southeast Asian country’s culinary richness and cultural charm.
At the centre of this celebration are two renowned chefs from Malaysia, Chef Faridul Ataras from ibis KLCC and Chef Mohd Irwan from Adabi, who have flown in specially to curate menus inspired by Malaysia’s traditional culinary landscape. Guests can savour signature dishes like Sayur Lodeh, Roti Jala with Vegetable Dalcha, Vegetarian Satay, Nasi Lemak, Rendang Ayam, and Mee Goreng Mamak.
A unique aspect of this initiative is its focus on vegetarian-friendly Malaysian dishes, tailored to suit the preferences of Gujarat’s predominantly vegetarian community. The specially designed set dinner menus cater to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian guests, ensuring an inclusive experience.
The event also offers more than food, it’s a cultural showcase, complete with traditional Malaysian folk dance performances by Skydance Panorama, authentic décor, and hospitality experiences reflective of Malaysia’s charm.
Speaking about the initiative, Amit Sangwan, General Manager of Novotel Ahmedabad, said,
“This festival is more than just a culinary offering, it’s our way of inviting the people of Ahmedabad and beyond to experience Malaysia’s soul through its food, culture, and traditions.”
Ms. Noriah Jaafar, Director of Tourism Malaysia Mumbai, added,
“This special initiative focuses on vegetarian cuisine, thoughtfully curated for the community in Gujarat. Malaysian vegetarian cuisine pays close attention to the choice of oil and ingredients, ensuring authenticity and quality. This festival brings a true India-Malaysia flavour to life.”
The festival is a must-visit for food lovers, travel enthusiasts, and cultural explorers looking to experience Malaysia without stepping outside India.
