Novotel Bengaluru Outer Ring Road is celebrating the spirit of the harvest season with Pongal Utsav, a thoughtfully curated South Indian Harvest Food Festival hosted at its signature all-day dining restaurant, The Square. The festival brings together tradition, gratitude, and togetherness through a menu inspired by age-old harvest customs and regional flavours.
Pongal, deeply rooted in South Indian culture, is a celebration of abundance, prosperity, and community bonding. Reflecting this essence, Pongal Utsav at Novotel Bengaluru Outer Ring Road offers an immersive culinary experience that honours the simplicity and warmth of traditional harvest meals.
Curated by Executive Chef Owaize Ahmed Khan and his culinary team, the festival showcases time-honoured recipes from Tamil Nadu and Andhra, highlighting the authentic flavours of the region. The experience begins with classic favourites such as Medu Vadai, crisp and golden, and Kuzhi Paniyaram, soft, spiced, and comforting.
At the heart of the menu is the traditional Ven Pongal, slow-cooked with rice, lentils, ghee, and pepper, and served with comforting accompaniments like Sambar and Coconut Chutney. Guests can also enjoy regional dishes including Kara Kuzhambu, Avial, and seasonal Poriyals, served alongside steamed rice and traditional condiments.
The culinary journey concludes on a sweet note with Sakkarai Pongal, symbolising sweetness, prosperity, and good fortune for the year ahead. Each dish reflects the simplicity, nourishment, and cultural richness associated with South Indian harvest celebrations.
