Overview

Housekeeping has long been seen as a behind-the-scenes function, the work that happens quietly so everything else runs smoothly. But the Professional Housekeepers Association is making a strong case that it's time to look at this profession very differently.

The PHA has officially announced the theme and logo for its 8th National Convention, which is set to be held in New Delhi. And the theme says it all:

"Stewards of Standards – Leadership in the Art and Science of Housekeeping" It's a theme that positions today's housekeeping professional not just as someone who maintains cleanliness, but as a leader, someone who drives sustainability, adopts new technology, ensures occupant well-being, and upholds brand reputation across industries. The phrase "Art and Science" captures that balance between the human, intuitive side of service and the data-driven, systems-led approach that modern housekeeping demands.

The newly unveiled logo drives this message home visually. It features a confident woman housekeeper holding a digital tablet, a clear nod to technology-led operations alongside the PHA insignia and subtle design elements representing New Delhi as the host city. It's a forward-looking logo that doesn't let go of the profession's core values.

The convention itself is shaping up to be a significant gathering. It will bring together Executive Housekeepers, hospitality and healthcare leaders, facility and corporate real estate professionals, hotel management educators, technology providers, and industry partners, all under one roof for keynote sessions, panel discussions, skill demonstrations, and networking.

Mrs. Jayashree Nagaraj, Founder President and Chairperson of PHA, shared her thoughts on the occasion, "This year's theme reflects the growing recognition of housekeeping as a leadership function within hospitality and allied service sectors. We are proud to host the Convention in the capital city and look forward to welcoming industry stalwarts from across India."

Ms. Bharti Singh Kalappa, Founder Member and National Vice President, added, "The 8th National Convention in New Delhi is designed to be more than an annual gathering, it is a movement towards redefining the future of professional housekeeping across industries in India."

Ms. Indrani Sanyal, Head – Facilities & Services at Woodlands Hospital and Chief Convenor of the convention, put it most powerfully, "The theme 'Stewards of Standards – Leadership in the Art and Science of Housekeeping' was inspired by a simple yet powerful belief, that true leadership begins with care, drives innovation, and ultimately elevates excellence. Today, housekeeping is no longer viewed as a support function; it is a strategic and reputational asset that influences brand trust, ESG commitments, customer loyalty, and long-term value creation."

Founded in Bengaluru in 2015, PHA has grown into a national body working across hospitality, healthcare, aviation, retail, and institutional sectors. Their annual conventions have become a key platform for knowledge sharing and professional development within the housekeeping community.

The 8th National Convention is one to watch, both for the conversations it'll spark and the direction it's pointing the entire profession toward.
