This May, Mumbai’s luxury landscape is set to receive a dash of British elegance as Robert Bailey, one of the most celebrated names in Savile Row tailoring, hosts a by-appointment-only trunk show at Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai. The event runs from 6th to 8th May, offering a rare opportunity for India’s style connoisseurs to experience the craftsmanship of one of Britain’s finest tailors.

The event opens with exclusive first access for members of Modernist, the hotel’s private members club, marking Mumbai’s debut on Bailey’s elite international circuit of trunk shows.

A fourth-generation tailor with a career spanning over 40 years, Robert Bailey’s journey began in 1985 at Gieves & Hawkes, guided by his father. His expertise expanded from cutting uniforms at Sandhurst Military College to becoming the Senior Cutter at Huntsman, solidifying his reputation in the heart of Savile Row.

Renowned for bringing Mayfair’s tailoring charm to fashion-forward cities across Asia, Robert now turns his attention to Mumbai. Each appointment begins with a personal consultation, where clients discuss style needs, climate considerations, and lifestyle preferences.

The cloth selection is exceptional, with over 3,000 luxury fabrics from prestigious mills such as Dormeuil, Scabal, Holland & Sherry, Loro Piana, and Johnstons of Elgin. These fabrics become the foundation for garments cut by Robert himself, using over 35 precise measurements, and crafted by hand in London by expert tailors.

Every suit or jacket commissioned during the trunk show is more than a luxury item—it’s a tailor-made experience, honouring tradition while adapting to modern sensibilities.
