Sayaji Hotel Kolhapur recently hosted its traditional Christmas Cake Mixing Ceremony at Sky Greens, bringing together guests, team members and well-wishers to mark the beginning of the festive season.
The event celebrated the spirit of Christmas through a traditional culinary ritual centred on preparing the fruit mix used in Christmas cakes. Participants came together to combine dry fruits, aromatic spices and spirits, setting the stage for the rich flavours associated with the festive delicacy.
The ceremony featured an assortment of ingredients, including almonds, cashews, raisins, pistachios and other festive additions. These were blended with spices and spirits, allowing the mixture to soak and develop flavour ahead of the Christmas baking season.
Commenting on the occasion, Mukesh Kumar Rakshit, Cluster General Manager, Sayaji Hotel Kolhapur, said, "The Cake Mixing Ceremony is a beautiful tradition that signifies togetherness, joy, and the beginning of the festive season. At Sayaji Hotel Kolhapur, we are delighted to bring people together through such meaningful celebrations and create memorable experiences filled with warmth and happiness."
Rooted in English festive traditions, the cake mixing ritual is associated with abundance, prosperity and sharing. Traditionally, dried fruits are soaked in spirits such as brandy, rum, whisky and wine before being incorporated into Christmas cakes. The preparation allows the ingredients to absorb the flavours and form the base of the seasonal dessert.
The evening also featured soothing music and high tea, giving guests an opportunity to connect and participate in the festive celebration. The gathering brought together food, tradition and social interaction in the run-up to Christmas.
Sayaji Hotel Kolhapur offers accommodation, dining and banquet facilities in South Maharashtra. The property also hosts celebrations and social gatherings as part of its hospitality offering.
