Overview

SOCIAL has launched Mela Mexicana, a month-long celebration of Mexican food, drinks, music, and culture across all its outlets in India. Running from July 1 to July 31, 2026, the festival has been organised in association with the Embassy of Mexico in India, transforming every SOCIAL outlet into a vibrant space inspired by the flavours, colours, and traditions of Mexico.

The festival blends authentic Mexican influences with SOCIAL's signature style, offering guests an immersive experience through specially curated food and beverages, lively décor, themed performances, interactive games, and community-driven events. Inspired by Mexican street culture, cantinas, and telenovelas, the outlets feature papel picado decorations, colourful visuals, staff dressed in sombreros, and resident DJs wearing lucha libre masks.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, every SOCIAL outlet will host a special Mela Mexicana ritual at 8:30 PM each evening. For five to ten minutes, staff members will move through the venue with maracas and pompoms while serving complimentary celebratory shots, bringing guests together for a shared celebration.

Explaining the idea behind the festival, SOCIAL said it aims to celebrate the cultural similarities between India and Mexico, where food, family, music, celebrations, and street culture play an important role in everyday life.

Speaking about the initiative, Riyaaz Amlani, Founder & Managing Director, Impresario Entertainment & Hospitality Pvt. Ltd., said, “SOCIAL has always believed that culture is not something you observe from a distance; it is something you step into, share, and make your own. With Mela Mexicana, we are bringing the spirit of Mexico into the heart of India’s neighbourhoods in a way only SOCIAL can: through food, drinks, music, performance, play and community. Mexico and India share a beautiful instinct for colour, spice, street food, celebration and togetherness. This festival is our way of turning that shared energy into a month-long experience that feels global in inspiration, local in spirit, and unmistakably SOCIAL.”

The Embassy of Mexico in India added, “The Embassy of Mexico in India is delighted to collaborate with SOCIAL for Mela Mexicana, a month-long festival blending cultural heritage with economic enterprise. As one of Mexico's most dynamic soft-power exports, gastronomy opens vital new avenues for trade, brand awareness, and bilateral growth. Through a curated fusion of Mexican culinary flavors, traditional music, and contemporary art, this collaboration invites Indian audiences to experience the deep cultural parallels between our two nations. Mela Mexicana is more than an event; it is a cultural dialogue uniting our people through a shared love for community, art, and food.”

The festival menu showcases a wide selection of Mexican-inspired dishes with SOCIAL's signature twist. Guests can enjoy favourites such as Guac 'n' Roll Chips, Nacho Average Love Triangle, Corn Chivda Chaat, Gajar Tinga Tostada, Chicken Tikka Tinga Tostada, Chilli Chipotle Aloo, Chilli Chipotle Chicken, Queso Fundido, Mushroom and Chicken Tinga Empanadas, Cheesy Quesadillas, Baja-O-Mushroom Taco, Al Pastor Chicken Taco, Taco 'Bout Fish, Mutton Seekh Taco, Burritos, Chimichangas, Birria Sando, Chicken Barbacoa Torta, and more.

Desserts include Concha French Toast and The Impossible Cake, while the beverage menu features tequila-based cocktails such as Batanga, Borracho Michelada, Hibshi Margarita, El Tamarindo, Pineapple Jalapeño Picante, Cantarito, and Mexican Spiced Hot Chocolate. Guests can also choose from zero-proof drinks including Not a Paloma and Tamarind Ginger Smash, along with festive shot selections.

Sharing the inspiration behind the menu, Chef Shamsul Wahid, Group Executive Chef, Impresario Entertainment & Hospitality Pvt. Ltd., and Chef Ashish Sharma Diaz Del Castillo said, “Mexican food and Indian food share a natural connection, both are generous, layered, spice-led and built around the joy of eating together,” said Chef Shamsul Wahid. “With Mela Mexicana, we wanted to honour that shared spirit through familiar Mexican formats, while giving the menu a SOCIAL twist with flavours like tikka, seekh, chivda, gajar and nihari, so every dish feels festive, rooted and full of character,” added Chef Ashish Sharma Diaz Del Castillo.

Beyond food and drinks, Mela Mexicana features a packed calendar of experiences, including Telenovela Table Read, an interactive improv game inspired by Mexican soap operas, and Bingo Beats Club: Mela Mexicana Edition, a music-driven take on Mexico's traditional Lotería game. The festival will also include salsa evenings, Mexican-themed workshops, community events, and live performances.

As part of the celebrations, SOCIAL will host Abakorao, a New Delhi-based Latin band led by Colombian musician Santiago Ramírez, who will perform salsa, merengue, bachata, son, reggaetón, and cumbia at select SOCIAL outlets.

Running across every SOCIAL outlet in India, Mela Mexicana promises an immersive month-long celebration that brings together cuisine, culture, music, nightlife, and community, offering guests a unique opportunity to experience the vibrant spirit of Mexico.
