Soy Soi in Kotturpuram, Chennai, is bringing the grandeur of imperial China to the city with ‘A Chinese Emperor’s Table’, a specially curated food festival inspired by the royal banquets of medieval China.

The festival takes diners back to an era when food was seen as more than nourishment and was closely connected with power, prosperity, celebration and refinement. At Soy Soi, this heritage is presented through an elaborate selection of Chinese banquet-style dishes, including dim sums, soups, roasted meats, seafood, seasonal vegetables, noodles and rice preparations.

Among the highlights are Yu Wan Jiebai Tang (Imperial Fish Ball Soup), Lung Xu Ji (Dragon Bread Sichuan Chicken Salad), Ranshao Yang Rou (Scallion Blazed Mutton) and Chengbao Lu Buo (Pan Fried Radish Cake), along with an extensive selection of other dishes created for the festival.

The menu draws inspiration from the diverse culinary traditions of imperial China, including Manchu, Han, Shandong and Jiangnan influences. These traditions were known for their variety, detailed presentation and ceremonial approach to dining, bringing together flavours from both northern and southern China.

‘A Chinese Emperor’s Table’ is designed as more than a dining experience. The festival brings together history, theatre, hospitality and flavour to recreate the spirit of an imperial banquet while presenting it through a contemporary setting at Soy Soi.

The experience gives diners an opportunity to explore Chinese culinary heritage through an indulgent journey inspired by the tables of emperors and the traditions of royal kitchens.

The festival is being hosted at Soy Soi, Gandhi Mandapam Road, Chitra Nagar, Kotturpuram, Chennai, and will be available until September 30, 2026.
