In a groundbreaking move, Tamil Nadu has unveiled its first-ever tourism policy, marking a significant shift in the state's approach to tourism. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister M K Stalin, Tamil Nadu aims to position itself as a premier tourist destination, attracting a staggering 20,000 crore rupees in investments over the next five years.

Industry Status and Economic Impact

The heart of this policy lies in its decision to grant industry status to the tourism sector. This landmark move opens the door for tourism projects and stakeholders to access vital funds, leading to improved employment prospects and comprehensive training programs. Prioritizing sectors like adventure, cultural, eco, and film tourism, Tamil Nadu is set to redefine the tourism landscape.

Diverse Tourism Avenues

Tamil Nadu's tourism policy embraces diversity. It seeks to extend its tourism appeal beyond the traditional temples and historic architecture that have long defined the state. The focus now includes adventure, recreation, caravan, rural and plantation, coastal, cultural, medical and wellness, eco, MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions), heritage, religious, and film tourism. This diverse offering aims to cater to a wide range of tourists and their interests.

Gateway Hubs and Smart Investments

To enhance tourism infrastructure, Tamil Nadu is planning to develop key cities such as Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Madurai, Coimbatore, and Kanyakumari as 'Gateway Hubs.' These hubs will receive substantial investments from Smart City funds, promoting cleanliness, safety, and digital innovation. The emphasis is on creating a seamless and attractive travel experience for visitors.

Responsible Tourism and Sustainability

Tamil Nadu is taking a proactive stance on responsible tourism. It recognizes the importance of preserving the environment and minimizing the negative impact of tourism activities, especially in eco-sensitive regions. The policy encourages eco-friendly practices, including rainwater harvesting, renewable energy sources, and effective waste management. Initiatives following the requirements of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) will be acknowledged for their commitment to sustainability.

Economic Growth and Skill Development

This ambitious policy sets a goal of contributing at least 12% of the state GDP annually, generating employment for over 25 lakh people, and facilitating the skill development of three lakh workers in tourism and related industries. It's a comprehensive approach aimed at boosting both the economy and the livelihoods of the people of Tamil Nadu.

In conclusion, Tamil Nadu's new tourism policy is a game-changer that positions the state as a dynamic and inclusive tourism destination. With a focus on sustainability, diversity, and economic growth, Tamil Nadu is poised to make a significant impact on India's tourism landscape.

There's a rising demand for exclusive business clubs. Entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, and creative minds now seek sophisticated spaces where they can connect, collaborate, and unwind.

While traditional establishments like Gymkhanas and Golf courses have long been the domain of the elite, gaining membership can be a lengthy process. To meet the evolving needs of professionals, a new wave of members-only private clubs is emerging in business hubs and city centers.

According to recent research by Axon Developers in collaboration with SKYE, the current market size of these exclusive clubs stands at INR 576 crores. By 2027, this figure is projected to soar to INR 941 crores, reflecting a robust growth rate of 17.8%.

These modern sanctuaries offer more than just meeting spaces. With swanky lounges, gourmet restaurants, fitness facilities, and luxury amenities like spas and art galleries, they provide a holistic lifestyle experience. Standalone clubs such as Quorum, BLVD, and Soho House, alongside established hospitality brands like Chambers and Privie, cater to diverse tastes and preferences.

Beyond business dealings, these clubs host a myriad of events, from art exhibitions to book readings, creating vibrant social hubs for India's upwardly mobile professionals.

The Western region of India, particularly Mumbai, leads the way in club membership, contributing over half of the revenue and membership volume. Mumbai boasts a rich array of clubs, including SOHO House, Taj Chamber, and Modernist, attracting discerning individuals with a penchant for luxury and innovation.

Membership in these clubs is highly selective, often based on referrals and invitation. Alongside financial status, criteria such as professional achievements and future vision play a pivotal role in admission, instilling a sense of pride among members.
