Whether you are an industry professional, an avid traveller, or simply passionate about the art of hospitality, this newsletter will be your gateway to a world of inspiration, knowledge and unforgettable experiences.
In a testament to the growing ties between India and Australia, ProWine Mumbai 2024 will witness a strong Australian presence, with 11 Australian wineries set to showcase their diverse and premium wine portfolios. The event, supported by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) in collaboration with Global Victoria, Investment NSW, and Wine Australia, highlights the opportunities fostered by the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) and the increasing demand for Australian wines in the Indian market.
The Australian pavilion at ProWine Mumbai 2024 will reflect the rich diversity of Australian wines, spanning more than 100 grape varieties from 65 wine regions. Visitors can explore everything from sophisticated reds to playful whites, tailored perfectly for pairing with India’s eclectic cuisine. To further enhance the experience, two masterclasses, one led by Sommelier Nikhil Agarwal and supported by the South Australian Government, will provide deep insights into the craftsmanship and culture behind Australian wines.
John Southwell, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner for South Asia, remarked, “The cooperation between India and Australia is at the heart of this initiative. Through ProWine Mumbai, we aim to connect with Indian importers and consumers, offering them Australia’s finest wines while fostering deeper economic and cultural ties. We also hope to contribute to the growth of the Indian wine industry through technical collaborations.”
Australia stands as a global leader in the wine industry, ranking as the sixth-largest producer and fifth-largest exporter of wine worldwide, with 60% of its production exported globally. The ECTA, which came into effect in late 2022, has further strengthened the trade relationship, paving the way for tariff reductions on Australian wines imported into India. Tariffs on wine bottles valued between US$5 and US$15 will be gradually reduced to 50% over nine years, while those over US$15 will see a reduction to 25% within the same timeframe.
With its innovative winemakers and unique terroirs, Australia offers wines that cater to every occasion, whether it’s a casual weekend get-together or an elegant evening affair. The premium selection showcased at ProWine Mumbai aims to introduce Indian consumers to these exceptional wines and the rich heritage behind them.
The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) is the Australian Government’s international trade promotion and investment attraction agency. Austrade supports businesses with market insights, promotes Australian capabilities, and facilitates global connections.

Chinese Wok, India’s largest home-grown Desi Chinese QSR brand, marked its 10th anniversary with a celebration rooted in joy and community spirit. Instead of limiting the milestone to its restaurants, the brand chose to give back by serving more than 10,000 freshly prepared meals to school children across 10 cities in 10 days.
The initiative spanned major cities including Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, and Lucknow, reaching underserved communities with hearty Desi Chinese meals. Each event became a celebration of togetherness, with children enjoying not just the food but also moments of laughter, games, and branded merchandise that made the experience memorable.
What made the initiative truly special was the hands-on participation of hundreds of Chinese Wok employees from restaurants, regional offices, and the corporate team. They came together to cook, serve, and spend time with the children, ensuring the celebration went beyond food to create genuine connections.
Reflecting on the milestone, Aayush Madhusudan Agrawal, Director, Lenexis Foodworks, shared,
“Completing 10 years is a proud milestone for all of us at Chinese Wok. We wanted to celebrate not just within our restaurants, but by bringing joy to children and communities that inspire us every day. This initiative reflects our long-term belief that food can be a force for good, and we will continue to build on this commitment as we grow.”
This initiative also underscores the larger vision of Lenexis Foodworks, the parent company of Chinese Wok, Big Bowl, and The Momo Co. By focusing on food as a force for good, the group continues to expand its footprint across India while making a lasting impact in the communities it serves.
