Mumbai's culinary scene has a delightful newcomer that's taking the traditional mithai experience to a whole new level. Inspired by the captivating Art Deco movie theaters of the city, the newly unveiled Bombay Sweet Shop in Bandra presents a fusion of creativity and Indianness. This enchanting space, designed by Shonan Purie Trehan of LAB, brings together different experience zones where you can indulge in delectable treats or pick up mithai from the retail offering.

Gone are the days of a conventional mithai shop – Bombay Sweet Shop embraces a whimsical, contemporary approach that beautifully merges the past and present. It's a place where you can satiate your cravings with inventive, 100% vegetarian sweets and savories that cater to any occasion. From mid-day snacks to late-night cravings, Bombay Sweet Shop offers an array of original flavor combinations that reimagine traditional Indian sweets.

As you step inside, you'll be greeted by a vibrant display of sweets juxtaposed with navy blue and sunshine yellow interiors. The inviting café-like seating at the center beckons you to relish a selection of contemporary Indian sweets, desserts, chaat, and coffee. And if you prefer to enjoy the outdoors, the seating outside is perfect for savoring cups of coffee or catching up with friends over chaat.

A highlight of the shop is the namkeen (savory) dispenser, reminiscent of classic slot machines. Pull the lever and enjoy a free sample of the diverse namkeen offerings. The space's design draws inspiration from the illustrious history of Art Deco movie theaters in Bombay, creating an atmosphere that's both nostalgic and whimsical.

The warm mustard yellow terrazzo flooring evokes old-school mithai shop vibes, while the candy cane-inspired ducts playfully blend yellow, navy blue, and ivory hues. The integration of soft timber accents and emerald green seating adds a touch of elegance to the colorful scheme. Architect and lighting designer Arjun Rathi's exquisite hand-blown glass lights adorn the space, with a chandelier resembling monochrome bull's-eye candies suspended from the ceiling, adding a captivating layer of interest.

Bombay Sweet Shop is not just a place to pick up mithai – it's an experience that celebrates the love for sweets and brings communities together. With a nod to the spirit of Bandra, this creative fusion of a mithai shop and a dessert bar has truly transformed the traditional concept of a sweet haven.

And for those who lean more towards savory than sweet, the newly introduced menu promises reimagined, whimsical creations that will tantalize your taste buds. The Chole Bhature Mezze is a perfect example, combining familiar flavors with a creative twist.

In the heart of Bandra, Bombay Sweet Shop stands as a testament to innovation, creativity, and the seamless blending of tradition and modernity. Step inside, indulge in the charm, and explore the world of mithai and culinary delights – it's an experience you won't want to leave behind.

In a groundbreaking collaboration, The Restaurant Cricket League (RCL), supported by Incredible India and the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, has partnered with the Adi Bodh Foundation to launch the "Hunger Free Bharat" mission. This initiative is a nationwide effort to combat hunger and food wastage, aligning with the Hon'ble Prime Minister's vision of Vikshit Bharat 2047 and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal of Zero Hunger by 2030.

The Hunger Free Bharat mission strives to create a sustainable food redistribution system, bridging the gap between food waste and hunger. It aims to raise awareness and bring together stakeholders from various sectors to establish an ecosystem that efficiently redistributes surplus food to those in need. The goal is to build a fairer society where nourishment is accessible to all, turning food waste into a valuable resource for the underprivileged.

Mr. Arvind Kumar, Founder of The Restaurant Cricket League, shared, "The Hunger Free Bharat mission is not just a campaign; it's a movement. It reflects our collective responsibility to ensure no one in our country sleeps hungry. This mission redefines how we distribute food and empowers every individual to contribute towards a future without hunger. Together, we can turn waste into wealth and make hunger a thing of the past."

India faces a major contradiction between hunger and food wastage. Annually, around 68.8 million tons of food, valued at ₹7,92,000 crores, is wasted, while 33.4 million children under five years old suffer from malnutrition. The Hunger Free Bharat mission seeks to address this by changing mindsets about surplus food and offering a sustainable solution to both food waste and malnutrition.

Mr. Abhishek Bhatnagar, Co-Founder of RCL, further emphasized the role of technology and community participation in the mission. "This initiative invites everyone to contribute by making a missed call to 9213332999 or joining through the Hunger Free Bharat platform. It's a simple yet powerful way to redistribute food and raise awareness about minimizing food wastage at all levels."

The Hunger Free Bharat mission promotes a culture of sharing and calls upon citizens, organizations, and policymakers to work together in creating a future where food abundance translates into nourishment for all. With every act of generosity and every meal saved, India moves closer to a hunger-free future.
