In concrete numbers, 43.80 lakh foreign tourists chose India as their destination in the first half of this year, marking a substantial surge from the figure of 21.24 lakh in the corresponding period of 2022. Alongside this impressive growth in foreign arrivals, there has also been an evident increase in foreign exchange earnings.

India's focus on revitalizing its domestic tourism sector has also yielded remarkable outcomes. Domestic tourism figures that stood at 677 million in 2021 soared to 1,731 million in 2022, showcasing a robust growth trend in the desire to explore one's own country. In particular, the state of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a significant rise in tourist footfall. In 2022, the figures surpassed 1.8 crore, and for the January-June period of 2023, the numbers are estimated to be around 1.09 crore.

Since its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 13, 2021, the corridor has transformed the tourism landscape of the region. The corridor, named Kashi Vishwanath Dham, covers an expansive 500,000 square feet, connecting the revered temple to the Ganga river.
