Novotel Visakhapatnam Varun Beach, a prominent member of the Accor group, has taken a groundbreaking step in the hospitality industry by introducing braille menus. This initiative, first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh, was launched at their Indian specialty outlet, Zaffran. It marks a significant stride towards fostering equality and empowerment for all guests, including those who are visually impaired.
The inauguration of the braille menus was a notable event, attended by distinguished officials. Among them was Dr. Vishwamitra, the District Blindness Control Society coordinator and HOD of Ophthalmology in Visakhapatnam. The ceremony was further graced by dignitaries from the Andhra Medical College and the Varun group.
Lakshmi Sridhar, the general manager of Novotel Visakhapatnam Varun Beach and The Bheemili Resort managed by Accor, expressed the hotel's commitment to inclusivity. She emphasised that the ethos of the hotel revolves around making every individual feel esteemed and embraced.
The event was also attended by luminaries such as Dr. G. Butchi Raju, principal of Andhra Medical College, Dr. Allu Padmaja, head of DREH, and Dr. Vasupalli Ravi, HOD of Anesthesia & CCM at KGH. The unveiling of the braille menu was a moment of heartfelt joy, particularly for visually impaired guests. It represented an opportunity for them to independently explore and order from the menu, a significant move towards self-reliance and dignity.
Novotel Visakhapatnam Varun Beach's introduction of braille menus underscores its dedication to creating a more inclusive and welcoming environment in the hospitality sector. This initiative is more than just a facility; it symbolises a gateway to empowerment and independence for visually impaired individuals, demonstrating the hotel’s commitment to inclusivity and hospitality for all.
