Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Limited (MHRIL), a leader in vacation ownership and leisure hospitality, has announced a significant investment of INR 800 crores for the development of three greenfield resorts in Tamil Nadu. This strategic move, over the next five to six years, represents the company's second-largest investment following last year's INR 1,000 crore infusion in Uttarakhand.
Expanding Tourism and Economic Development
This new venture, facilitated by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu, is set to make a substantial impact on tourism and the state's economy. The collaboration aims to boost Tamilnadu tourism landscape, providing new employment opportunities for over 1500 people and contributing to the region's economic prosperity.
Club Mahindra's Growing Southeast Asia Portfolio
In conjunction with this investment, Club Mahindra, MHRIL's hospitality brand, is extending its footprint in Southeast Asia. The brand now offers access to premier accommodations at luxurious resorts in Vietnam and the exotic Ayodya Resort in Bali. With these partnerships, Club Mahindra's portfolio now includes over 12 resorts in Southeast Asia and more than 60 destinations globally.
Strengthening Presence in Tamil Nadu
The investment in Tamil Nadu underscores MHRIL's commitment to offering magical holiday experiences. Club Mahindra already operates resorts in Ooty and Kodaikanal, and this expansion further cements its presence in the state. MHRIL's network spans more than 125 resorts across India and abroad, serving a vast member base of 2,90,000 families.
Commitment to Sustainability
In line with MHRIL’s sustainability objectives, the new resorts in Tamil Nadu will focus on achieving Net Zero Energy, Water & Waste, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2040. This initiative aligns with the company's dedication to sustainable tourism, setting new standards in environmentally conscious resort development.
MHRIL's strategic investment in Tamil Nadu marks a significant step in the company's growth and expansion strategy, reinforcing its position as a key player in India's tourism and hospitality sector.
