Marriott International, a giant in the hospitality industry, has announced exciting plans to expand its Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy™ brand. This move comes just one year after the company expressed its desire to grow in the premium and luxury apartment-style accommodations sector. The news includes the opening of their first property in Puerto Rico and the signing of new agreements across the United States, Italy, and Saudi Arabia.

"Casa Costera, Isla Verde Beach" in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is the first property to open under the Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy™ brand. This marks a significant milestone in Marriott's venture into blending the comforts of home with the luxury of a hotel.

Marriott's Chief Financial Officer and EVP of Development, Leeny Oberg, expressed enthusiasm about bringing this innovative concept to global developers. This new brand caters to guests seeking longer stays, blending work, personal, and family travel with spaces offering full kitchens, private bedrooms, and in-unit washers and dryers. The design of these properties is locally inspired, reflecting the essence of their prime locations.

Developers have a unique opportunity with Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy™. They can convert existing buildings, start new constructions, or integrate them into multi-use properties. These apartments offer dedicated lounges, outdoor spaces, and other amenities. Current Marriott owners and franchisees, as well as multi-family residential developers, can leverage Marriott's reputable name and the Marriott Bonvoy® loyalty program for these projects.

Locations for these new developments include Detroit and St. Louis in the United States; Courmayeur in Italy's Aosta Valley; and NEOM in Saudi Arabia. Each of these destinations promises to provide guests with unique, locally inspired, and luxurious accommodations.

The Plaza Apartments in Midtown Detroit, set to open in Q3 2024, is a conversion project featuring about 92 units with amenities like a fitness center. The property in St. Louis, developed in partnership with Midas Hospitality, will be a 50-unit property co-located with a new Sheraton Hotel.

In Italy, Le Géant in Courmayeur, a collaboration with Castello Sgr, will offer 47 units, combining sizeable living spaces with sophisticated design. Meanwhile, in NEOM, Saudi Arabia, the Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy™ will reflect the luxury and unique character of the island destination Sindalah. This property, with its 218 units, is anticipated to open in 2024 and will feature studios and apartments with up to three bedrooms.

These developments are more than just expansion plans; they represent Marriott's commitment to innovation and catering to the evolving needs of travellers worldwide. For more information, visit Marriott's website or follow their latest updates on their news centre.
