In a bold move signaling confidence in the Indian market, Westlife Foodworld, the master franchisee for McDonald's in West and South India, is gearing up for a substantial expansion. After a stellar financial performance in 2023, the company plans to nearly double its outlets by adding 300 new McDonald's locations by 2027.
The fiscal year 2023 marked a triumphant period for Westlife Foodworld, with a remarkable 44% surge in revenue, reaching Rs. 2,260 crore. This outstanding performance surpassed both India's economic growth and the QSR sector average. The company's commitment to operational efficiency was reflected in the impressive operating EBITDA margin, which rose by 300 basis points to 17.3%.
Westlife Foodworld's success can be attributed to its "execution excellence strategy," emphasizing menu optimization, meal deals, and branding. This approach not only drove sales but also strengthened the brand identity. The company witnessed record-breaking store openings, with a same-store sales growth of 36%, showcasing its operational prowess.
Buoyed by its financial success, Westlife Foodworld is eyeing an aggressive expansion strategy. The plan is to add 300 new McDonald's outlets by 2027, primarily focusing on untapped markets in West and South India. This move aims to enhance accessibility to the iconic fast-food chain while reinforcing its presence in existing markets.
The expansion plan is not merely about increasing the number of outlets but also includes ambitious financial goals. Westlife Foodworld aims to achieve a return on capital exceeding 40% by 2027, doubling its revenue to Rs 4,000-4,500 crore. The company plans to increase the store count to 580-630, highlighting its commitment to adapt to market demands and customer preferences.
Westlife Foodworld's expansion plans reflect the growth potential of the Indian QSR market. The company's focus on operational efficiency, strategic menu offerings, and targeted expansion positions it as a key player in shaping the landscape of the Indian fast-food industry.
The increased accessibility to McDonald's offerings will undoubtedly delight consumers and further strengthen the iconic brand's foothold in the Indian market.
