Nestlé India has been recognized for its innovative approach to incorporating millets into mainstream food products. The company received the 'best industry - product innovation for mainstreaming millets' award from Nutrihub, ICAR-IIMR, during the prestigious International Nutri-Cereal Convention 5.0 held in Bengaluru.
The event, organized by Nutrihub, IIMR-ICAR, was a significant gathering of various stakeholders, including policymakers, producers, processors, researchers, and NGOs, all dedicated to the millets eco-system. This award underlines Nestlé India's commitment to excellence and innovation in the food industry.
Suresh Narayanan, Chairman and Managing Director of Nestlé India, expressed his gratitude and pride in receiving this recognition. "This award reflects our dedication to providing nutritious and healthy food options across India," he said. Narayanan acknowledged the role of the Indian government in promoting millets, also known as 'shree anna,' and the necessity of ongoing partnerships for sustaining this momentum.
Nestlé India has introduced a range of millet-based products, such as Nestlé a + Masala Millet with bajra, Nestlé CEREGROW grain selection with ragi, and MAGGI Oats Noodles with Millet Magic, featuring jowar and ragi. These products exemplify the company's commitment to integrating nutritious millets into everyday diets.
Dr. B Dayakar Rao, CEO of Nutrihub, extended his congratulations to Nestlé India. "Their unwavering dedication and important contribution in the field of millets are commendable," he stated, acknowledging the company's role in enhancing the nutritional value of everyday foods.
