Rajasthan has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first state in the nation to grant full industrial recognition to the tourism and hospitality sectors. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot, the state has sanctioned 802 tourism units, attracting a staggering investment of Rs 10,463.47 crore during his tenure from December 2018 to June 2023.

These approved tourism units are projected to create employment opportunities for 40,785 individuals within the state. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is dedicated to positioning Rajasthan as a leading destination in the tourism sector both nationally and internationally, and this recognition of the tourism and hospitality sector as a fully-fledged industry reflects that commitment. As a result, investors are showing a keen interest in investing in Rajasthan's thriving tourism sector.

Dr. Rashmi Sharma, the director of the tourism department, emphasizes that the Rajasthan Tourism Department is actively identifying and developing new, lesser-known tourist destinations within the state as part of its new tourism policy. This approach entices investors by providing them with a streamlined business experience through a single window, eliminating the need to visit multiple locations.

Additionally, in 2022, the Rajasthan Inquiry Committee was formed, led by the President. The committee oversees 379 tourism projects, with 55 completed and 149 currently in various stages of development. This initiative is set to inject an impressive investment of Rs 14,679.63 crore into the state's economy and generate employment opportunities for 60,687 individuals.
