According to the latest rankings by Bounce for 2023, based on a comprehensive analysis, the Taj Mahal proudly secures the second spot as one of the world's most beloved landmarks.

The Taj Mahal's Timeless Allure:

Between August 2022 and July 2023, the Taj Mahal accumulated an impressive 22 million searches on Google, underscoring its sustained popularity. In 2022, it welcomed over 3.3 million visitors, a testament to its enduring allure and cultural significance. Notably, the Taj Mahal boasts a perfect 5/5 rating on Tripadvisor, highlighting the exceptional experiences it offers to those who make the journey.

A Symbol of Love and Architectural Grandeur:

The Taj Mahal, an ivory-white marble mausoleum built in 1648, stands as a testament to love, housing the tombs of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983, its architectural brilliance and historical significance make it a must-visit destination for those seeking a glimpse into India's rich heritage.

Global Rankings and Beyond:

Despite a slight dip in its score compared to the previous year, the Taj Mahal's second-place ranking reflects its enduring charm. Only Niagara Falls managed to surpass it, securing the top spot with an impressive score of 9.45.

The global rankings for 2023 showcase a diverse mix of iconic landmarks, with the Taj Mahal leading the pack alongside other renowned destinations:

Niagara Falls, United States & Canada: Retaining the top position for the second consecutive year with a score of 9.45.

Taj Mahal, India: Holding the second spot with a score of 7.60.

Grand Canyon, United States: Securing the third position with a score of 7.57.

Big Ben, England: Claiming the fourth spot with a score of 7.31.

Golden Gate Bridge, United States: Gracing the fifth place with a score of 7.26.

Bounce's Methodology:

Bounce's rankings were compiled through a thorough analysis of 128 famous landmarks, narrowing down to the top 50. Factors such as Tripadvisor ratings, Google search volume, Instagram posts, TikTok views, entry fees, visitor numbers, and revenue estimates were considered. The Taj Mahal's unwavering appeal and cultural significance continue to make it a global icon and a testament to India's rich heritage.

The group has reportedly impacted more than one million lives and directly supported over 300,000 individuals through initiatives spanning education, healthcare, employment, and skill development.

A key focus area has been inclusive employment, with the group emerging as one of India’s largest private-sector employers of transgender individuals, currently employing over 250 transgender professionals across various roles. It has also conducted multiple LGBTQIA+ job fairs reaching over 10,000 jobseekers and facilitating more than 1,500 job placements.

Beyond employment, the group has developed destination-led skilling initiatives in regions such as Khajuraho, Bekal, Mangar, and Goa, aimed at creating local employment opportunities within tourism ecosystems and reducing migration-driven workforce displacement.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the group also repurposed hotel infrastructure to support healthcare workers, including accommodation support, meal distribution, PPE assistance, and vaccination-related aid.

Novotel Visakhapatnam Varun Beach and The Bheemili Resort, part of the Accor portfolio, marked the arrival of mango season with special Avakaya Mixing Ceremonies held over the weekend on 2nd and 3rd May. The events brought to life one of Andhra Pradesh’s most loved culinary traditions, offering guests a closer connection to local culture.

Rooted in nostalgia and a strong sense of community, the ceremonies were designed as interactive experiences where guests could understand and take part in the traditional preparation of Avakaya. By blending storytelling with hands-on participation, the initiative created a meaningful way to showcase Andhra’s culinary heritage.

At The Bheemili Resort, the celebration on 2nd May unfolded in a calm coastal setting. Guests were invited to take part in the process of mixing freshly cut raw mangoes with spices and gingelly oil, guided by culinary experts. The session offered a deeper appreciation of the effort and skill behind this iconic pickle. The experience was complemented by a selection of regional dishes and refreshing seasonal beverages, adding to the relaxed and culturally rich atmosphere.

The celebration continued on 3rd May at Novotel Visakhapatnam Varun Beach, where guests and food enthusiasts came together for an engaging evening. Set against a scenic seaside backdrop, the event captured the spirit of togetherness, with participants sharing stories and traditions linked to Avakaya preparation. The evening was further enhanced with summer-inspired welcome drinks and a curated spread of regional specialities that reflected the diversity of Andhra cuisine.
