Nakul Anand, an esteemed figure in the hotel and travel industry, bid adieu to his role as the executive director of ITC after an illustrious 45-year career. Joining ITC Hotels in 1978, Anand ascended to leadership positions, steering ITC's hospitality, travel, and tourism businesses. The farewell ceremony, held at the ITC Green Centre, marked the end of an era in the company.

Anand, recognized for his visionary contributions to the tourism and hospitality sector, played a pivotal role in elevating ITC Hotels to its current zenith. During his tenure, he served as the Managing Director of ITC Hotels from 2003 to 2005 and later assumed the position of a director on the board of ITC in 2011.

Having commenced his career as a management trainee, Anand's journey reflected a commitment to excellence. An economics honors graduate from Delhi University with an AMP Degree from Australia’s Bond University, he brought a wealth of knowledge to ITC.

“In a career that spans more than four decades, Anand has been acknowledged for his vision, commitment, and his role as a thought leader in the tourism and hospitality industry," as mentioned on the ITC website. Anand's legacy includes championing sustainability in hoteliering, making ITC Hotels a global leader in LEED® Platinum certified properties.

Beyond his contributions at ITC, Anand held leadership roles in the Hotel Association of India and CII National Tourism Committee. Presently, he is a member of the National Tourism Advisory Council, part of the Executive Committee of the Hotel Association of India, and a member of the Senior Advisory Council of the Sustainability Hospitality Alliance.

As Anand steps into retirement, his impact on ITC and the broader hospitality landscape remains an enduring testament to his dedication and leadership.

The world of luxury hospitality mourns the passing of Prithvi Raj Singh Oberoi, fondly known as "Biki," on November 14, 2023, at the age of 94. 

“It is with deep sadness that we inform the peaceful passing of PRS Oberoi, Chairman Emeritus of The Oberoi Group, earlier today,” the official statement from Oberoi Group said. “As we mourn the loss of a true icon, we also aim to celebrate the extraordinary legacy PRS Oberoi leaves behind. In the coming days, we will share details of our plans to honour and remember him.” 

Born on February 3, 1929, PRS Oberoi took the helm as the Chairman of EIH Limited in 2002, following the passing of his father and the founding chairman of The Oberoi Group, Mohan Singh Oberoi. His leadership extended until 2013, leaving an indelible mark on the company and the luxury hotel sector.

Under his guidance, Oberoi Hotels and Resorts became synonymous with international luxury, with several upscale establishments in key cities. The prestigious Padma Vibhushan, awarded by the Government of India in 2008, recognised his exceptional service to the country.

In May 2022, PRS Oberoi gracefully stepped down from his position as Chairman and Director of EIH Limited, passing the reins to his nephew Arjun Singh Oberoi. Even after his departure, he left a lasting impact on the industry, ensuring that his vision for exceptional hospitality would endure.

Known for his belief that people are the most valuable asset of any organisation, PRS Oberoi's commitment to quality in hospitality management was unwavering. He instilled a spirit of perfection, attention to detail, and a desire for unmatched standards, earning him accolades such as the “Corporate Hotelier of the World” in 2010.

In June 2022, the International Hospitality Institute acknowledged him on the Global 100 in Hospitality, a testament to his enduring influence in the industry.

A visionary leader and Chairman Emeritus of the Oberoi Group, his legacy shaped the landscape of the hospitality industry in India and beyond.  His passing is not just a loss for The Oberoi Group but a profound one for the hospitality sector in India and worldwide. His legacy lives on in the Oberoi Group's continued commitment to excellence. This legacy reached far beyond corporate success, touching the lives of countless hoteliers through mentorship and a dedication to unparalleled standards.
