Calcutta is set to welcome a new addition to the Hyatt family after more than 20 years, as Hyatt Centric prepares to launch in Gariahat.
Scheduled to open its doors in the winter, this will be the second Hyatt property in the city, with the first being Hyatt Regency near the Salt Lake stadium, which began operations in 2002.
The upcoming 93-key Hyatt Centric property is undergoing renovation and aims to be ready before the busy winter holiday and wedding season. Under the management contract of Hyatt, the hotel will offer its signature services and amenities.
Hyatt Centric is renowned for its modern boutique approach, favouring prime city locations that cater to travellers seeking convenience. There are already five Centric properties in India, located in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Goa, and Chandigarh.
The new Gariahat property will boast three restaurants, including a rooftop dining option. The area is primarily residential, yet it has a healthy mix of business and retail establishments.
The hotel's rebranding comes after changing hands from Radisson Group during the pandemic. The new owners, with interests in real estate and mining, are revitalizing the property to meet Hyatt's standards.
Hyatt Centric's presence is expected to elevate Calcutta's hospitality landscape, offering a branded experience for both tourists and locals. The hotel's central location makes it appealing for guests looking to explore the heart of the city, attend events, or partake in MICE activities (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions).
For travellers enrolled in the World of Hyatt loyalty program, the new property presents a fresh option at a different price point and location. As Calcutta is recognized for its high-spending marriage market, the strategically positioned boutique hotel is anticipated to thrive in terms of F&B and room revenue.
