Wellness in Travel & Tourism (WITT), a pioneering organization led by industry experts, has announced the launch of the first-ever wellness certification for hotels and resorts. This innovative program aims to elevate standards in the travel and hospitality industry, offering properties a competitive edge in attracting wellness-conscious travelers.
With over 125 years of combined experience, WITT’s team has designed a 100-point certification criteria that assesses properties across five core pillars: Healthy Eating, Holistic Healing, Nature, Movement, and Local Impact. The certification is set to reshape how wellness amenities are evaluated and marketed, positioning certified properties as premier destinations for health-focused travelers.
Robin Ruiz, CEO and Founder of WITT, explained the impact of this certification: “The WITT Certified seal gives hotels and resorts a significant advantage in the wellness market. It’s akin to the Michelin Guide but for wellness travel, offering an objective and thorough review of wellness services.” This initiative comes as the wellness travel sector is projected to reach $1.3 trillion by 2025, with certified properties enjoying a 20% higher ADR (Average Daily Rate) compared to non-certified hotels.
In addition to certification, WITT offers consulting services, expert guidance, and targeted marketing to help hotels enhance their wellness offerings and stand out in an increasingly competitive sector. According to the Global Wellness Institute, wellness travelers in the U.S. spend 175% more than traditional travelers, making this a lucrative market for certified hotels.
WITT has already certified over 100 properties and is poised for rapid growth. The company will soon launch a consumer-facing website where travelers can explore WITT-certified hotels and access destination spotlights, ensuring confidence in their wellness travel choices.
