25hours Hotels is set to open its second property in Copenhagen on July 27, 2024. The new 25hours Hotel Paper Island, located in the heart of the city on Christiansholm Island, also known as Paper Island, promises to deliver a unique blend of international cuisine and traditional Danish vibes.

Situated just steps away from Nyhavn, the new hotel features 128 rooms, an Asian restaurant named Tiger Lily, a day bar, and a rooftop bar. The hotel is designed to evoke the feel of a Danish summer home, providing a serene escape in the bustling city center. The local architecture firm COBE and Swedish interior designers Stylt Trampoli have created a space that combines natural elements with urban sophistication.

The hotel offers a range of room sizes from Medium to Gigantic, with six rooms featuring private outdoor areas. Prices start at DKK 1,800 per night. The interior design emphasizes natural colors and materials, blending nostalgic elements with contemporary style to create a welcoming atmosphere.

Tiger Lily, the hotel's Asian restaurant, offers a menu crafted by the team behind popular Hamburg restaurants O-Ren Ishii and Mama Si. Guests can enjoy dishes like 'pulled noodles with lamb and chili oil' and 'pork belly burnt ends with BBQ caramel.' The restaurant's design is inspired by traditional food markets and features an open kitchen and communal tables, as well as an outdoor terrace overlooking the water.

The Nomad Day Bar, located on the ground floor, serves as a social hub for guests. It offers a range of beverages and snacks sourced from local suppliers, making it an ideal spot for relaxing before exploring the city. In the evenings, the bar offers aperitifs and wines, providing the perfect start to a night out in Copenhagen.

General Manager Grit Rister, who also manages the 25hours Hotel Indre By, will oversee the new property. Rister brings extensive experience in food and beverage management, ensuring that both hotels maintain high standards of service and hospitality.

"With its location directly in the harbour, the hotel perfectly embodies the unique character of Copenhagen. Our guests can enjoy that special hygge feeling, far from the madding crowd of the city centre, but with direct access via a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists. The Royal Opera sits perched on a neighbouring island," Rister said. "You can rest assured that both of our properties are keen to welcome neighbours and locals, offering lots of pop-up stores, live music and events, in addition to the restaurant, café and bar."

Paper Island has a long history, previously serving as a paper warehouse and a popular street food market. The island is now being redeveloped into a vibrant cultural and residential area. The hotel's design reflects this transformation, with a focus on creating spaces that are both comfortable and inspiring.

Guests can explore the nearby Royal Opera House and other cultural landmarks, all within walking distance. The hotel's rooftop bar offers panoramic views of Copenhagen, providing a stunning backdrop for any occasion.

The 25hours Hotel Paper Island is poised to become a popular destination for both locals and tourists. Its combination of innovative design, excellent dining options, and prime location make it an exciting new addition to Copenhagen's hospitality scene. In a significant recognition for luxury wellness hospitality, Banyan Tree Samui has been named the “Best Spa Resort – Thailand” at the Global Spa Awards 2026, presented by The Luxury Spa Edit.

The award reflects a combination of expert panel evaluations, insights from global travel journalists and sustainability specialists, and over 85,000 public votes, reinforcing the resort’s strong positioning in the global wellness space.

At the heart of this recognition is the resort’s integrated approach to holistic wellbeing. The spa experience at Banyan Tree Samui goes beyond traditional treatments, offering a thoughtfully curated journey rooted in its “8 Pillars of Wellbeing” philosophy, focusing on rest, nourishment, mindfulness, movement, and personal growth.

A standout feature is its signature hydrotherapy facility, The Rainforest, which takes guests through a multi-sensory circuit of water jets, saunas, steam rooms, ice fountains, and vitality pools. This immersive experience has become a defining element of the resort’s wellness offering.

Speaking on the achievement, Naphasawan Badklang, Spa & Gallery Manager, credited the team’s rigorous training at the Banyan Spa & Wellbeing Academy and their commitment to delivering personalised guest experiences. Each treatment begins with a detailed consultation, followed by customised herbal oils and signature rituals that include sound healing, breathwork, and traditional techniques.

The award also coincides with the rollout of Banyan Tree Spa 2.0, an evolved concept that blends ancient Asian healing practices with modern wellness techniques. From personalised therapies to curated closing rituals featuring herbal foot cleansing and tea ceremonies, the experience is designed to create a deeper sense of relaxation and renewal.

Set against the scenic backdrop of Koh Samui’s Lamai Bay, the resort’s 88 private pool villas further enhance the sense of seclusion and calm. Complemented by curated dining experiences, wellness programmes, and nature-integrated design, the property continues to offer a sanctuary for travellers seeking both luxury and restoration.

With this recognition, Banyan Tree Samui strengthens its reputation as one of Asia’s leading wellness destinations, setting new benchmarks for immersive and experience-driven hospitality.
