Alma Resort Cam Ranh, a stunning 30-hectare beachfront destination on Vietnam’s picturesque Cam Ranh Peninsula, has introduced an enhanced wellness experience with the appointment of a full-time resident yogi. Umesh Kumar Sharma, a seasoned wellness expert with 20 years of experience, now leads the resort’s yoga and meditation programs. Trained in Rishikesh, India - often regarded as the “city of yoga” - he specializes in holistic practices designed to address diverse health needs.
In his role as Alma’s Health and Wellness Manager, Umesh curates a broad spectrum of yoga and meditation sessions, catering to beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Group sessions take place at Alma’s dedicated Yoga Room from Tuesday to Sunday, offering participants a structured and immersive wellness experience.
For those seeking a revitalizing start to the day, the Morning Hatha Yoga class (6:30-7:30 AM) incorporates traditional joint movements, sun salutations, and a mix of standing and seated postures. A more dynamic option, Power Yoga (7:45-8:45 AM), focuses on building core strength, endurance, and flexibility through an energetic, fitness-oriented practice rooted in the Ashtanga tradition. To wind down in the evening, the Yoga Stretch class (3:45-4:45 PM) provides a deep stretching session, targeting the hips, hamstrings, shoulders, neck, and back—perfect for relieving stress after a long day.
Beyond group sessions, Umesh offers customized private yoga experiences aimed at addressing specific health concerns. The Core Strength and Weight Management program focuses on postures and breathing techniques to build core stability while promoting overall weight management. Those experiencing joint discomfort can benefit from Knee Pain Management, a specialized yoga therapy session incorporating gentle, restorative movements to strengthen and support knee joints.
Expectant mothers can enjoy the Pregnancy Yoga program, which is tailored to provide comfort and enhance wellbeing throughout pregnancy. Additional private sessions include Power Yoga, which blends strength training with traditional yoga for a full-body workout, and Deep Stretching and Breathing, a slow-paced session that emphasizes breath control and flexibility.
For those looking to cultivate mental clarity and relaxation, the resort also hosts guided meditation workshops from Tuesday to Saturday. These sessions incorporate Yoga Nidra, a meditative practice designed to reduce stress and anxiety, alongside Pranayama breathing techniques that promote mindfulness and improved concentration.
“No matter your ambitions or ailments, we personalize our yoga practices to suit your unique health goals and provide take-home techniques that contribute to a healthier and more fulfilling life,” said Umesh Kumar Sharma.
