Air India Express has expanded its domestic network by introducing six new daily direct flights, which began operating on August 12, 2024. This expansion includes new connections from Chennai, Kolkata, and Guwahati, further strengthening the airline's presence in key regions across India.
The newly added routes are Chennai-Bhubaneswar, Chennai-Bagdogra, Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata-Varanasi, Kolkata-Guwahati, and Guwahati-Jaipur. Notably, five of these routes are new to the airline’s network, with the Guwahati-Jaipur connection being an exclusive service provided only by Air India Express.
The expansion significantly boosts connectivity from Chennai, where the airline now operates flights to 10 domestic destinations, including Bagdogra, Bhubaneswar, and Thiruvananthapuram. Chennai also serves as a hub for international routes to destinations like Dammam, Kuwait, and Singapore.
Kolkata, the third-largest station for Air India Express, now offers 124 weekly flights to 34 destinations, including 12 direct domestic routes. The city’s connectivity has been further enhanced with the introduction of the new flights to Varanasi and Guwahati.
In response to increasing demand, the Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram route, previously operating twice a week, has been upgraded to a daily service, bringing the total number of flights on this route to nine per week.
Guwahati has also seen a significant enhancement in connectivity, with new direct flights to Jaipur and an expanded network that includes eight domestic destinations. The city now serves as a critical link in the airline’s network, offering 23 one-stop connections to various domestic and international locations.
Air India Express, part of the Tata Group, continues to strengthen its domestic network to meet the growing demand for air travel across India. The addition of these six new routes reflects the airline's commitment to providing convenient and direct connectivity for passengers, reinforcing its position as a key player in India’s aviation sector.
