Air India has launched an innovative service called Fare Lock, designed to offer greater booking flexibility for travelers. With Fare Lock, customers can secure their flight fares for 48 hours by paying a nominal fee, allowing them to finalize travel plans without the pressure of immediate fare changes or seat availability issues.

How Fare Lock Works?

The Fare Lock feature can be accessed through Air India's website or mobile app. When booking a flight, travelers can choose the Fare Lock option, pay a non-refundable fee, and hold the fare for 48 hours. During this period, they can return to the website or app to confirm their booking at the locked fare using the 'Manage Booking' feature.

Fare Lock is particularly useful for those who need a bit more time to confirm travel plans. It protects against sudden fare hikes and ensures that the preferred flights remain available. This feature is applicable to flights at least ten days away from the booking date, providing ample time for travelers to finalize their plans.

The fee for using Fare Lock varies based on the route and is applied per ticket. Here is a breakdown of the fees:

Domestic Flights: ₹500

Short-Haul International Flights:

Departing India: ₹850

Arriving in India: USD 10

Long-Haul International Flights:

Departing India: ₹1500

Arriving in India: USD 18

These fees are inclusive of taxes and are non-refundable. The Fare Lock service does not cover any additional services, which can be added at the time of final booking.
