Air India has paved the way for an exciting and seamless European adventure by teaming up with AccesRail, an International Air Transport Association travel partner. This groundbreaking intermodal agreement, inked on August 22, opens up a world of opportunities for Air India travellers, offering access to several European countries and more than 100 cities and towns across the continent – all with the convenience of a single ticket.

Imagine landing in Europe and realising that your journey has just begun as you venture into the diverse and enchanting landscapes of the Old Continent. With this innovative partnership, Air India passengers can now enjoy the freedom of not just air travel but also bus and rail services, all while preserving their original flight's baggage allowance. It's like having a European adventure package bundled into your airfare.

The beauty of this arrangement lies in its simplicity. No need to worry about multiple bookings, transfers, or baggage complications. Your travel journey remains smooth and integrated, ensuring you experience the best of what Europe has to offer, both in the air and on the ground.

So, which European countries are now at your fingertips with this groundbreaking ticket?

The list is impressive, covering Austria, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, and the United Kingdom. Moreover, you'll have access to these fantastic destinations through well-connected gateways like Amsterdam, Birmingham, London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Milan, and Vienna.

Now, let's talk about the incredible bus and rail services included in this deal. Avanti West Coast (U.K.), National Express (U.K.), Trenitalia (Italy), ÖBB Austrian Railways (Austria), SNCB Belgian Railways, and Thalys (Netherlands/Belgium) are some of the key players in making your European exploration hassle-free and memorable.

It's worth mentioning that this move follows in the footsteps of Vistara, which joined forces with WorldTicket earlier this year to offer seamless connections via Deutsche Bahn rail services from Frankfurt to destinations across Germany – all available through a single ticket. It's all part of Air India's vision to enhance the connections between India and Europe, making travel more accessible and enjoyable for its passengers.

Nipun Aggarwal, Air India's Chief Commercial & Transformation Officer, expressed the airline's commitment to expanding its global network. He emphasised that this partnership with AccesRail not only grants travellers easy access to an extended network of European destinations but also bridges connectivity gaps between India and Europe.

As of now, these intermodal tickets are exclusively available for booking through travel agents on a global scale. However, Air India has ambitious plans to expand the booking options, with the goal of providing more direct access for its passengers through its own sales channels in the near future.

In a nutshell, Air India's collaboration with AccesRail has opened up exciting possibilities for travellers, promising an unforgettable European odyssey. With the convenience of a single ticket, you can explore a multitude of European cities, soak in diverse cultures, and create cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Your next European adventure awaits – thanks to Air India.

Over 1 Crore Tourists Visit Jammu and Kashmir Till June 2024

The Centre has announced that over one crore tourists visited Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) from January to June 2024. The region has seen remarkable growth in tourism, particularly following the abrogation of Article 370.

Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, highlighted the steady rise in tourist numbers over the past few years. In 2020, J&K welcomed 34,70,834 tourists. This number surged to 1,13,14,884 in 2021 and 1,88,64,332 in 2022. Last year, the region saw 2,11,24,874 visitors, and as of June this year, 1,08,41,009 tourists have already explored the Union Territory.

Several strategic measures have been credited for this significant improvement in J&K’s tourism sector. The implementation of the Tourism Policy 2020 and the status of industry granted to the tourism sector under the Jammu and Kashmir Industrial Policy 2021 have played pivotal roles. These policies have provided various incentives, encouraging the growth of the tourism industry.

The improvement in the law and order situation has also contributed to the tourism boom. This resurgence has positively impacted the livelihoods of thousands of people connected to the tourism industry, both directly and indirectly.

To accommodate the increasing influx of tourists, the government introduced homestay guidelines, benefiting both visitors and local residents economically. Additionally, the Jammu and Kashmir Film Policy-2021 and Houseboat Policy-2020 have been significant in promoting the region as a tourist hotspot.

The government has identified 75 off-beat destinations to diversify tourism offerings. Notably, border tourism has gained traction, with previously lesser-known areas like Gurez, Keran, Teetwal, and R.S. Pura opening up to tourists. Adventure and golf tourism are also emerging sectors in J&K.

Jammu and Kashmir is increasingly being recognized as an international tourist destination. The successful hosting of major events, such as the 3rd G-20 Tourism Working Group Meeting, has enhanced the region's global profile.

The development of modern infrastructure, including luxury hotels and resorts, positions J&K as an attractive location for destination weddings and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism.

The tourism sector's contribution to the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has grown from 7.84% in the financial year 2019-20 to 8.47% in 2022-23. Over the past three years, the sector has recorded an annual average growth rate of 15.13%.
