Air Mauritius, the national airline of Mauritius, is set to introduce a new direct flight route between Chennai and Mauritius starting April 13, 2024. This initiative marks a significant milestone in air connectivity between India and the picturesque island nation, offering travelers a seamless and convenient travel experience.
The airline will operate a weekly flight every Saturday from Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, utilizing an Airbus A330 aircraft equipped with 254 seats. The flight, numbered MK 747, will have a duration of 5 hours and 45 minutes, departing from Chennai International Airport and arriving at SSR International Airport in Mauritius.
Laurent Recoura, Officer in Charge of Air Mauritius, expressed delight at restarting operations from Chennai after a four-year hiatus. He emphasized the strong cultural and historical ties between Mauritius and India, inviting travelers to experience Mauritius' natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.
Arvind Bundhun, Director of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, highlighted the significance of this milestone in facilitating travel for visitors from Southern India. He extended gratitude to Air Mauritius for spearheading the initiative, fostering stronger ties and greater connectivity between the two nations.
