Asaptickets has recently released insightful market research that shines a light on the travel patterns and preferences of air travelers in 2023. The study, focusing on reasons, frequency, and company for travel, offers a comprehensive look into the current state of air travel.Purpose of Travel. The most striking finding is that a majority of travelers, about 63%, are primarily flying abroad to visit friends and relatives. This purpose significantly outweighs other reasons for travel, such as exploring new cities and sightseeing, preferred by around 10% of customers. Interestingly, business travel and beach vacations are less common motivations, with business arrangements drawing 6.71% and beach vacations 5.13%.
The study also reveals gender-specific travel preferences. While 7.64% of male travelers frequently fly for work, only 5.63% of female travelers do the same. In contrast, 27.7% of women prefer leisure trips, including city explorations and beach vacations, compared to 22.57% of men.
Frequency of Travel
Travel has rebounded significantly in 2023, with many people incorporating it into their regular routines. The research indicates that 59.53% of passengers travel by air once or twice a year. Interestingly, quarterly travel is essential for nearly 10% of respondents, while a small fraction (2.16%) travels monthly. Men appear to be more active in air travel, with over 76% going abroad at least once a year compared to 65% of female travelers.
Company for Travel
When it comes to travel companions, more than half (55.60%) of Asaptickets customers prefer journeying with family members. Solo travel is the choice of 30.65%, with men showing a slightly higher preference for traveling alone (33.91%) compared to women (26.64%). Traveling with friends is chosen by 8.84% of respondents, and only 2.55% travel with coworkers.
Methodology
This comprehensive research was conducted by Asaptickets and Skylux Travel agency, surveying adults in the United States and Canada who have used their services for business or leisure travel in the past 12 months. The study encompasses over 1,000 respondents aged 18 and above.
