AirAsia has announced a significant expansion of its network in India, adding 10 new routes to Malaysia and Thailand, further cementing its commitment to the Indian travel market. This expansion includes 104 weekly flights operated by short-haul airlines AirAsia Malaysia and AirAsia Thailand, alongside medium-haul flights by AirAsia X Malaysia.
The new offerings by AirAsia X Malaysia include two direct routes from New Delhi and Amritsar to Kuala Lumpur, with eight flights scheduled weekly. These additions bolster AirAsia’s goal of providing a comprehensive and seamless travel experience, connecting Indian travelers to the wider low-cost network in Asia.
AirAsia's Fly-Thru connectivity, a feature that allows travelers to fly from India to destinations like Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and more with a single booking, is transforming international travel. This service is making overseas exploration more accessible and affordable, catering to the increasing demand for international travel from India.
Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group Limited, highlighted the airline’s ongoing commitment to the Indian market. "India has always been a crucial market for us," he said. "With over 1.6 million guests flown from India this year, we are excited about our expansion plans, including a new route to Thiruvananthapuram."
Manoj Dharmani, AirAsia's Head of Regional Commercial (India), emphasized the airline's deep commitment to India, noting that AirAsia now serves 11 destinations across the country. "Our expansion in India, resulting in 104 weekly flights, makes us a vital link between India and the globe," Dharmani added.
AirAsia's expansion reflects a growing trend in the aviation industry, where airlines are increasingly focusing on enhancing connectivity and accessibility. With these new routes, AirAsia is set to offer Indian travelers more options for affordable international travel, strengthening the airline's position in the global aviation market.
