Summit Hotels & Resorts, one of Eastern India’s leading hospitality groups, has unveiled its newest gem, Summit Enigma Resort & Spa in Lamahata. Positioned as West Bengal’s latest luxury mountain retreat, the property is just 22 kilometers from Darjeeling and offers the rare balance of easy accessibility with unmatched tranquility.
What makes the resort stand out is its uninterrupted views of the entire Kanchenjunga range. Guests can now enjoy what is usually reserved for early-morning treks to Tiger Hill, all from the comfort of their private balcony. The boutique property features 16 elegant rooms, including cozy Premium Rooms and spacious Balcony Rooms, each designed to showcase the grandeur of the Himalayas.
Wellness sits at the heart of Summit Enigma’s philosophy. The signature Meta Spa blends local inspirations into its therapies, alongside facilities like steam, sauna, and a Kanchenjunga-facing Jacuzzi that offers an indulgent yet immersive mountain experience. Dining is equally thoughtful at CloudSong Restaurant, where menus focus on farm-to-table freshness, local produce, and specialties such as the popular Desi Kukkad Curry.
Beyond luxury, the resort emphasizes authentic cultural and ecological connections. Guests can walk to nearby farms, experience sustainable mountain agriculture, and engage with local communities where traditions still thrive in harmony with nature. Wildlife too adds its charm, with deer sightings on the property reminding guests of the region’s natural richness.
Lamahata’s location further enhances the appeal. While Darjeeling offers its bustling hill-station vibe, Lamahata provides a peaceful alternative, yet remains close to monasteries, tea gardens, the Lamahata Eco Park, and heritage attractions. This balance allows travelers to enjoy serenity without missing out on iconic experiences.
“Enigma is more than just a property launch, it is Summit’s boldest interpretation of mountain hospitality to date. We have created a retreat where every moment, every view, and every detail reflects the mystery and beauty of the Himalayas”. said Sumit Mitruka, CEO and Founder of Summit Hotels & Resorts.
With this opening, Summit Hotels & Resorts strengthens its position in India’s premium hospitality market. Guided by Mitruka’s vision, the group now operates over 30 hotels and resorts across 17 destinations, employing more than 1,000 people, most from local communities. Looking ahead, Summit plans to expand to 50 properties by 2030 while continuing to blend luxury, sustainability, and authentic regional experiences.

Novotel Nairobi Westlands is celebrating its first anniversary, wrapping up a year filled with unforgettable guest experiences, community events, and award-winning hospitality. Since opening in August 2024, the hotel has welcomed more than 100,000 guests, making it one of Nairobi’s most dynamic destinations for both leisure and business travelers.
Situated in the lively Westlands district, just steps away from the city’s top malls, the property has quickly become a trusted choice for families, professionals, and global explorers. The hotel’s safari-inspired interiors bring the spirit of Maasai Mara into the city, with artwork and sculptures of giraffes, elephants, rhinos, and cheetahs adding a distinctive local touch.
Designed by RF Studio, the 347 rooms and suites combine modern comfort with sustainable features. With 13 versatile event spaces, including a grand ballroom, Novotel has built a reputation as a top venue for corporate meetings, product launches, and intimate celebrations.
One of its standout attractions is the heated rooftop pool, offering panoramic views of Nairobi’s skyline. Guests can enjoy everything from a peaceful morning swim to golden-hour sunsets, making it a signature experience at the property. Families are also at the heart of Novotel’s promise, with kid-friendly activities ensuring both parents and children feel equally at home.
In just a year, the hotel has become a cultural hotspot, hosting popular events such as Comedy Nights, live music performances, and Bollywood-themed evenings. These gatherings have made Novotel a go-to venue for birthdays, proposals, and graduation celebrations, adding to its role as a community connector.
Culinary offerings remain another highlight. Gemma’s Italian Kitchen & Bar has attracted thousands with its monthly brunches, while the 11th-floor Trunk & Tandoor Sky Lounge is a favorite for Indian flavors paired with sunset views. For casual moments, the Social Hub serves locally inspired coffee in a warm, welcoming setting.
The hotel’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. Nominated for the World Luxury Hotel Awards, Novotel Nairobi Westlands has also been recognized for sustainability under its Build Kenya initiative, which supports local vendors and creatives. The property has achieved milestones such as Safe Hotels certification, accolades from the Tourism Regulatory Authority, and global recognition for Executive Chef Abhijeet Bagwe, who was named Global Chef of the Year 2025.
“Our first year has been about building trust, delivering consistent quality, and creating a space that feels like home for every guest”, said Fabio Gonsalves, General Manager of Novotel Nairobi Westlands. “We are proud of what we’ve accomplished, thankful to our guests and partners, and excited for the journey ahead. Equally, we take pride in creating meaningful employment opportunities, with 98% of our workforce being talented Kenyans who are the true heartbeat of our success”.
As part of Novotel Hotels & Resorts under the Accor group, the property carries forward the brand’s vision of balance, connection, and well-being across its 590 global hotels. Novotel Nairobi Westlands now stands not just as a hotel but as a cultural landmark, shaping the city’s hospitality landscape with warmth, style, and creativity.
