Australian Avocados strengthened its focus on the Indian market with an exclusive culinary showcase in Mumbai, in collaboration with School of European Pastry.

The experience featured a specially curated five-course menu by Chef Parvinder Singh Bali, designed to highlight the versatility of avocados across formats, textures, and cuisines. From fresh combinations like mango, apple, and nori crisp to indulgent creations such as avocado mousse with compressed watermelon and avocado tempura chaat, each course demonstrated how the ingredient can move seamlessly from savoury to dessert applications.

Australian avocados are grown across regions including Queensland and Western Australia, ensuring consistent, premium-quality produce throughout the year. Naturally rich in monounsaturated fats, fibre, folate, potassium, and B vitamins, they align with the rising demand for health-conscious food choices among Indian consumers.

India continues to emerge as a priority market, with a clear focus on building long-term partnerships across importers, distributors, retail, and foodservice. This trade-led approach is supported by increasing exposure to global cuisines and a stronger focus on nutrition.

According to recent trade data, India imported over 20,358 tonnes of avocados in the 12 months to December 2025, with imports between July and December 2025 rising by 127% year-on-year, highlighting the accelerating demand for the category.

Speaking on the occasion, Duncan Wells, Western Australia Director for Australian Avocados, noted that India represents one of the most dynamic growth markets, driven by rapidly evolving consumer preferences and increasing awareness.

Chef Bali added that the ingredient offers strong versatility in professional kitchens, with its texture and consistency making it suitable for a wide range of applications, from appetisers to desserts, fitting naturally into contemporary, technique-driven cooking.

This initiative reflects a broader strategy to build the avocado category in India through application-led, experiential engagement with chefs and industry professionals, bringing the ingredient closer to how it is used in real kitchen environments.

Now available across major retail outlets, including Reliance Retail, as well as e-commerce platforms, Australian avocados are becoming increasingly accessible to consumers looking to incorporate them into everyday meals.
