The 10th edition of the International Day of Yoga (IDY) is set to be a grand celebration, emphasizing the theme “Yoga for Self and Society.” At a recent curtain-raiser event held at the National Media Centre in New Delhi, the significance of this theme was highlighted, underscoring yoga’s dual role in enhancing individual well-being and fostering societal harmony.

Shri Prataprao Jadhav, the Hon’ble Minister of State for Ayush, spoke about the profound impact yoga has on both personal and community health. He noted that the enthusiastic participation of millions in recent years demonstrates yoga’s growing influence worldwide. The Prime Minister’s personal engagement has been pivotal in promoting yoga on a global scale, from leading celebrations at iconic locations to advocating for its recognition at the United Nations.

Since its inception in 2015, the IDY has set several Guinness World Records and has seen participation soar, with around 23.4 crore people joining the event in 2023. This year’s celebrations will be held in Srinagar, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the event once again.

In a move to make yoga more accessible, the Minister launched a ‘Common Yoga Protocol Book in Braille’ and a new comic book, “Professor Ayushman,” aimed at engaging children in yoga practices. Additionally, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will join the celebrations with a unique “Yoga for Space” initiative, involving scientists and officials practicing yoga together.

The Ministry of Ayush has also introduced the Yoga Tech Challenge, inviting startups and innovators to showcase yoga-related technologies and products. This initiative aims to blend traditional practices with modern technology, further promoting the benefits of yoga.

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of Ayush, reflected on the journey of IDY, emphasizing its role in promoting health and social values. He highlighted the collaborative efforts of various government departments and state governments in organizing inclusive and widespread observance of IDY each year. The active participation of union territories and the National Ayush Mission further underscores the national commitment to this cause.

In Delhi, partnerships with organizations such as NDMC, ASI, and DDA will help organize mass yoga events. Social organizations like Brahma Kumaris, Art of Living, Patanjali, Gayatri Parivar, Isha Yoga Centre, and Heartfulness are also lending their support to the celebrations.

To engage the global community, the Ministry of Ayush has launched the “Yoga with Family” video contest in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). This initiative encourages families worldwide to participate in the IDY 2024 celebrations, with exciting prizes for the best entries. The contest promotes the joy of yoga and reinforces family bonds, with submissions open until June 30, 2024.

Participants are encouraged to use hashtags like #InternationalDayofYoga2024, #YogaForSelfAndSociety, #YogaWithFamily, and #IDY2024 to join the global movement online.

Renowned for its traditional therapies rooted in ancient science, Subuthi Spa offers personalized treatments like Abhyanga, Shirodhara, Pizhichil, and Njavarakizhi—each tailored by expert Vaidyas using Nadi Pariksha, a diagnostic method that identifies an individual’s doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These treatments go beyond relaxation, creating a path to inner alignment and lasting wellness.

As the monsoon season unfolds—considered by Ayurveda as the most effective period for detox and rejuvenation—Subuthi Spa transforms into a tranquil haven for holistic healing. The spa’s lush setting and mindful treatments invite guests to reconnect body, mind, and spirit in harmony with the climate.

Meliá Pattaya Hotel has officially launched its YHI Spa, offering a thoughtfully curated menu of wellness treatments that promote physical and mental well-being — from improving metabolism and easing tension to boosting circulation and enhancing sleep quality.

This marks the fourth YHI Spa in Thailand under Meliá Hotels International, following successful rollouts at Meliá Koh Samui, Meliá Phuket Mai Khao, and Meliá Chiang Mai. Named after the goddess of life and light from the Karraur First Nations mythology, YHI Spa blends ancient Asian healing wisdom with contemporary wellness techniques.

With four serene treatment rooms and a traditional Thai herbal sauna, the spa is designed for ultimate rejuvenation. The spa’s signature treatment, “YHI Oriental Harmony”, combines Swedish and Thai massage techniques to target pressure points and aid muscle recovery — ideal for guests with persistent back, neck, or shoulder tension.

Highlighting Thai heritage, the “Siam Serenity Herbal Compress” features the traditional Luk Pra Kob infused with lemongrass, turmeric, camphor, and ginger, offering relief from inflammation and improved circulation.

For those seeking a full immersive experience, the “Blue Ocean Bliss Signature Treatment” blends a detoxifying marine salt scrub, yoga stretches, and an oil and seawater massage — topped with a local snack and herbal drink. Couples can enjoy the “Lot of Love” package, beginning with a romantic milk bath and followed by a shared massage.

The spa also offers facials and body treatments like the “Yuzu Scrub and Vitiver Body Polish” with Himalayan salt, konjac sponge, and caffeine to brighten and rehydrate the skin. The “Ageless Facial Treatment” uses natural extracts from water lily, licorice, and cactus to combat signs of aging.

Shorter hydrotherapy rituals, such as the “Citrus and Salt Bath Voyage” and “Royal Rice Milk Soak”, provide 30 minutes of pure relaxation and detox.

All treatments use products from HARNN, an organic Thai wellness brand known for natural, artisanal formulations passed down through generations.

Open daily from 10am to 8pm, the YHI Spa at Meliá Pattaya offers three single treatment rooms with showers, a spa suite for couples with hydrotherapy, and a Thai herbal sauna to complete the wellness journey.
