The Centre has announced that it will allocate Rs 100 crore to Goa for the establishment of 'Unity Mall', an initiative proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Union Minister Som Parkash, during a joint press conference with Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, shared the details of this development.

According to Parkash, the interest-free loan of Rs 100 crore will be used to create Unity Mall, a vibrant retail space that will serve as a comprehensive destination for visitors, allowing them to experience the essence of Goa. The mall will showcase the unique offerings of each district through the concept of "one district-one product," featuring a wide range of local handicrafts and speciality products.

The product identification for North Goa includes cashew nuts as product one and feni as product two, while the positions are reversed for South Goa. This strategic approach aims to highlight the distinctive specialities of each district, further emphasizing their identities.

Khaunte added that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Unity Mall will be finalized within one month, signalling progress towards the realization of this ambitious project.
