India’s public transport sector is undergoing a transformation, with a renewed focus on connectivity and road safety. Despite having fewer than 0.3 buses per 1,000 people, compared to countries like Turkey and China, where the ratio is 1.3, India is making strides to bridge the gap. Government initiatives aimed at improving road connectivity and boosting public transport are beginning to reshape the industry.

One notable success is seen in eastern India, where enhanced access to buses in rural and semi-urban areas has fueled economic growth, contributing significantly to the national GDP.

Chartered Speed: A Catalyst in Public Transport Transformation

In 2024, Chartered Speed doubled its fleet size to 2,300 buses, reaffirming its commitment to improving connectivity and uplifting communities. This expansion is not just moving people but also creating thousands of jobs across diverse areas like driving, maintenance, administration, and tech-enabled services.

"We are not only moving people but also uplifting communities across India by creating employment opportunities. Our goal is to deliver connectivity, employment, and greener solutions," said Sanyam Gandhi, Director, Chartered Speed.

Focus on Sustainable Transport for 2025

Looking ahead, Chartered Speed is gearing up for a greener future. Aligning with government goals, the company plans to:

  • Expand its electric vehicle (EV) fleet.

  • Phase out diesel buses.

  • Explore biofuels and hydrogen-powered vehicles to reduce reliance on traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) buses.

  • Enhance passenger safety with tech-enabled solutions.

This push towards sustainable solutions underscores Chartered Speed’s vision of transforming public transportation into a more environmentally friendly and efficient sector.

With these initiatives, Chartered Speed is not just addressing the current needs of public transport but also paving the way for an eco-friendly future that supports economic growth and community well-being.
