Tamashaa Indian Restaurant in Washington has announced the appointment of Chef Sanjay Kumar as its new Executive Chef, adding a seasoned culinary expert to lead its vibrant Indian kitchen. With over 22 years of experience working in five-star hotels and premium kitchens, Chef Sanjay’s arrival promises a blend of innovation, authenticity, and elevated dining.
Before joining Tamashaa, Chef Sanjay served as the Executive Chef at Sodexo India Services Pvt. Ltd., where he led large-scale food operations across multiple sectors. His leadership involved strategic planning, menu innovation, cost control, hygiene compliance, and training kitchen staff. His ability to blend operations with culinary excellence has made him a standout in India’s professional food landscape.
Chef Sanjay began his culinary journey at the iconic Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi, where he trained for three years before climbing the ranks. His time at restaurants like Haveli and the award-winning Varq sharpened his skills and introduced him to a modern interpretation of Indian cuisine. As Junior Sous Chef at Varq, he was instrumental in daily operations, menu development, and cost-efficient food production.
His mastery lies in both traditional Indian recipes and their contemporary adaptations — making him a perfect fit for Tamashaa’s culinary philosophy. Known for his creative plating and understanding of regional Indian flavors, Chef Sanjay’s vision at Tamashaa is to bring Washington diners an unforgettable Indian experience — one that marries nostalgia with innovation.
Commenting on his appointment, Tamashaa’s management shared, “Chef Sanjay Kumar is an exceptional culinary leader whose deep knowledge of Indian cuisine and commitment to excellence align perfectly with our vision. We are thrilled to have him lead our kitchen and elevate the dining experience for our guests in Washington.”
With this new chapter, Tamashaa looks forward to building a reputation as one of the most distinguished Indian restaurants in the region. Under Chef Sanjay’s leadership, guests can expect a menu that reflects India’s rich culinary heritage, presented with finesse and a global sensibility.
