The Chennai Photo Walk community has opened the seventh edition of its popular Eyes of Madras photo exhibition, bringing together photographers who capture the many moods and stories of Chennai. The event officially began today with an inauguration that welcomed artists of every age and skill level, staying true to the inclusive spirit of CPW.
This year’s edition received 1,100 image entries from 156 photographers. From these, 162 photographs by 101 participants were curated for print display. To further increase visibility, another 55 images will be showcased digitally. The submissions revolve around engaging themes such as My Friend, Ganesha, Colour, Colour: What Colour Do You Want? Red, Enga Area Ulle Varadhey: Kasimedu, Saandhu Pottu, Sandana Pottu, and Umbrella Stories, each offering a unique slice of Chennai’s character.
The exhibition was inaugurated at 9:30 am by Mr. Varun Gupta, Director of The Chennai Photo Biennale, who attended as the chief guest. The showcase will conclude on Sunday with a valedictory ceremony, where noted cinematographer Mr. Ezhil Arasu K will be the chief guest.
Celebrating Chennai’s spirit through vibrant photo stories, Eyes of Madras continues to be a key annual event for the photography community. This edition is supported by Visalam Chit Funds, TRB – A Well Wisher, Cholamandalam Finance, Palepu Pharma Distributors, and Sigma.
Founded 18 years ago, Chennai Photowalk has grown into a thriving community of more than 17,000 members. The group conducts photowalks on the first and third Sundays of every month, encouraging participants from ages 15 to 80 to explore the city through their lenses. Images from these walks are shared across social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Flickr. With 287 photowalks completed so far, CPW continues to create opportunities for passionate photographers to showcase their creative work to the public.
