Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin has unveiled its newest expression, Mountain Berry Gin with Cherry Blossom, adding another unique creation inspired by the landscapes and flavours of Meghalaya. Crafted using rainwater and built on an unsweetened and uncoloured base, the latest release reflects the natural character of Cherrapunji and Mawsynram, two of the wettest places on earth.
The launch continues the brand’s focus on showcasing Meghalaya’s regional identity, seasonal character, and local ingredients through carefully selected botanicals sourced from the highlands.
At the heart of the new expression is the combination of cherry blossom petals and Khasi Sohiong berries, also known as Meghalayan mountain berries. Together, these ingredients create the gin’s naturally occurring pink shade while contributing a balanced sweet-tart profile. Supporting ingredients like taro root and chamomile bring subtle softness, followed by notes of mandarin and lime peel.
Staying true to its approach, the gin contains no sweeteners, artificial colouring, or additives. Instead, the expression allows the ingredients to speak for themselves while highlighting their place of origin.
The botanical composition includes Sohiong berries, cherry blossom petals, taro root, chamomile, Eastern Himalayan juniper berries, Khasi mandarin, and Kaji Nemu. Together, these ingredients create a flavour profile that is floral, citrus-forward, and inspired by Meghalaya’s rich highland ecosystem.
The deep berry colour and gentle sweetness come naturally from Sohiong berries and the texture added by taro root. When served over ice or mixed with tonic or soda, the colour softens into a lighter pale pink tone created entirely through natural berry and floral pigments. The aroma unfolds with notes of juniper, berry freshness, and soft floral layers.
The tasting profile includes a lush, silken and sweet-tart palate, floral and citrus notes on the nose, and a lingering berry-led floral finish.
Another key highlight of the launch is its integrated pour-measuring cap. Featuring a patent-applied jigger mechanism built into the bottle, it has been designed to offer accurate pouring with every serve. The packaging also continues the brand’s stainless-steel design language, enhanced with deep-gold embossing that creates a refined metallic finish.
