In a bold move towards sustainability and modern convenience, Choice Hotels International has teamed up with electric vehicle giant Tesla. This collaboration is set to bring Tesla's universal wall connectors to several Choice-branded hotels across the United States, including big names like Radisson, Cambria, Comfort, Country Inn & Suites, and Quality Inn. This initiative isn't just about providing an essential service; it's about driving forward with an eco-friendly mission and meeting the growing demand for electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities.
With the world leaning more towards electric vehicles, travelers are on the lookout for hotels that can cater to their charging needs. Choice Hotels has recognized this trend and is keen on offering more than just a comfy bed for the night. By installing four or more charging stations at their properties, they're removing a big worry for EV-driving guests, whether they're traveling for work or pleasure.
Thanks to an updated booking system, guests can easily find which hotels offer EV charging. A simple filter on ChoiceHotels.com and its mobile app does the trick, making it effortless to plan a stay where you can recharge both yourself and your vehicle.
Dominic Dragisich, a top executive at Choice Hotels, sees this partnership as a win-win. It's not just about keeping up with trends; it's about offering something extra that can attract more guests and potentially boost revenue for hotel owners. With 41% of Cambria hotels already equipped with charging stations and plans to extend this to all properties by the end of 2024, it's clear that Choice is charging ahead with its commitment to sustainability and guest satisfaction.
This move isn't just for show. Choice Hotels is serious about its role in supporting a greener planet, with its corporate offices already decked out with EV charging stations. It's a comprehensive approach to sustainability that extends beyond the guest experience to embody the company's broader environmental goals.
To sweeten the deal, Choice Hotels is offering extra rewards for guests who use the EV charging stations. Holders of Choice’s co-branded credit cards will get bonus points for charging their vehicles, making it a rewarding experience in more ways than one.
Choice Hotels is setting a new standard for hospitality by integrating EV charging into the guest experience. It's a thoughtful response to the evolving needs of today’s traveler, showcasing a commitment to comfort, convenience, and the planet.

SuitePad has unveiled Stay Manager, a new feature aimed at enhancing hotel guest personalization by centralizing guest preferences. This innovative tool allows hotel staff to improve the check-in process, enabling guests to plan their stays in detail via in-room tablets. By integrating these tablets into the hotel’s digital processes, Stay Manager reduces human error and streamlines guest interactions.
The technology vendor emphasizes that Stay Manager facilitates consistent guest communication across various properties of a hotel chain. This capability not only reduces manual labor but also allows hoteliers to offer uniform and tailored services, simplifying the management of stay-related details for both guests and hotels.
One of the standout features of Stay Manager is its ability to automate routine guest interactions, resulting in improved operational efficiency. The interactive workflow displayed on the in-room tablets prompts guests to specify their preferences, including room cleaning options, breakfast bookings, and eco-friendly choices such as carbon offsetting.
SuitePad's integration with the hotel’s property management system (PMS) allows Stay Manager to automatically retrieve crucial guest data, such as checkout dates, minimizing the need for manual input. This automation frees hotel staff to provide more individualized care, enhancing the overall guest experience.
The Breakfast Upsell step is another valuable feature, enabling guests to pre-order meals directly from their in-room tablets. This not only enhances food and beverage revenue but also requires no additional staff effort. Additionally, the Green Option and Carbon Offset features empower guests to make eco-friendly choices easily.
In August 2024, SuitePad further enhanced its offerings by introducing the “Guest Journey Push” feature on the SuitePad admin panel. This allows hotels to automatically deliver relevant information and updates tailored to specific guest profiles through their SuitePads, ensuring a seamless and personalized guest experience.
With the Stay Manager feature, SuitePad continues to revolutionize the hospitality industry by providing innovative solutions that prioritize guest satisfaction and operational excellence.

The global commercial airport lighting market is set to grow by USD 140.9 million from 2024 to 2028, according to a new report by Technavio. With a projected CAGR of 3.68%, the market is driven by increasing air traffic and the transition to energy-efficient lighting systems, particularly LED and solar-powered lights. AI is playing a pivotal role in revolutionizing the sector, helping optimize airport lighting systems and improving energy management.
Key Trends and Drivers
A prominent trend in the market is the growing shift towards LED lighting, which is seen as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution. Compared to traditional lighting systems, LED lights consume about 50% less energy, last up to 50,000 hours, and require minimal maintenance. Solar-powered LEDs, which convert sunlight into electrical energy, are also gaining traction due to their sustainability benefits
Airport operators are increasingly adopting LED-based systems for airfield lighting, terminal buildings, and parking lots to reduce electricity consumption and carbon emissions. With safety being a critical factor, these lighting systems ensure better visibility and operational efficiency. The inclusion of AI-powered tools is helping airports monitor lighting performance, predict maintenance needs, and optimize energy use.
Market Challenges
Despite the promising growth trajectory, the commercial airport lighting market faces challenges such as heightened competition and pricing pressures. New entrants are disrupting the market, and established players are forced to innovate continuously to maintain their market share. Additionally, the transition from traditional incandescent lighting systems to LED-based ones requires significant capital investment.
The short-term impact of the COVID-19 pandemic caused a temporary slowdown in market growth. However, as global air travel recovers and airport expansion projects resume, the demand for advanced lighting systems is expected to rise again.
Regional Analysis
The APAC region leads the market, accounting for 47% of the total market share, driven by rapid airport infrastructure development in countries like China, Japan, and India. Other regions, including North America and Europe, are also showing strong growth potential as airports upgrade their lighting systems to meet increasing passenger traffic and energy efficiency goals.
Key Players
Major players in the commercial airport lighting market include Abacus Lighting Ltd., ADB Safegate BV, Astronics Corp., Honeywell International Inc., Siemens AG, and more. These companies are focusing on developing innovative, AI-powered lighting solutions to stay competitive in an evolving market.
Segment Analysis
Conclusion
The commercial airport lighting market is set for steady growth over the next few years. Increased air traffic, coupled with airport modernization initiatives, is driving demand for energy-efficient lighting solutions like LEDs and solar-powered lights. AI-driven innovations are helping airport operators optimize performance and reduce operational costs. While the competitive landscape presents challenges, the market outlook remains positive, with a strong focus on sustainability and efficiency.
