Courchevel Tourisme is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated return of the Ski Mountaineering World Cup to Courchevel after a decade-long hiatus. This prestigious event will mark the beginning of the 2024-2025 World Cup season, taking place from Thursday, December 12 to Sunday, December 15, 2024.
The World Cup will feature a series of exhilarating competitions:
Individual Race: Kicking off the season on December 12, this Olympic-format race will showcase athletes battling against Courchevel’s breathtaking peaks.
Sprint Event: On December 14, competitors will participate in a sprint that serves as the first qualifying event for the Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, adding extra significance to this race.
Vertical Race: The weekend will wrap up on December 15 with a vertical race on the official Millet Ski Touring Courchevel course, marking the start of the 15th season of the Millet Ski Touring Circuit (MSTC).
The vertical-race ski mountaineering event, held every Wednesday from December to March, begins at the Alpinium in Courchevel Le Praz. Over fourteen years, nearly 25,000 racers have climbed the 500-meter ascent and 3.2 km to the Croisette in Courchevel 1850.
Returning to the renowned Émile Allais slalom stadium, the World Cup promises to attract top athletes and ski mountaineering enthusiasts. The event will feature celebrated athlete Emily Harrop, a member of the French national team and a Courchevel Sport Outdoor (CSO) licensee. As a four-time world champion, Harrop is poised to leverage her deep familiarity with the terrain for a successful season launch.
With its stunning mountain backdrop and competitive spirit, the Ski Mountaineering World Cup in Courchevel is set to be a landmark event, combining thrilling competition with the beauty of the Alps. Join us in Courchevel for this extraordinary return of the Ski Mountaineering World Cup, where sport and scenery unite in celebration.
