In a move set to redefine travel in Uttarakhand, FIL Industries Private Ltd. has commenced work on the Dehradun-Mussoorie Ropeway Project. As India's longest ropeway system, this groundbreaking venture, led by Mussoorie Sky Car Company Pvt. Ltd. and supported by partners POMA SAS France and SRM Engineering LLP, is anticipated to be a transformative development for the region. With an investment of INR 300 crore, the project is expected to reach completion by September 2026.

Bridging Distances: The Ropeway Solution

Spanning 5.5 kilometers, the Dehradun-Mussoorie Ropeway promises to convert the currently time-consuming 33-kilometer road journey into a scenic and swift 15-minute aerial ride. This innovation is set to drastically reduce travel time, which currently fluctuates between 1.5 to 3 hours, thereby enhancing connectivity and accessibility between these two picturesque locales.

Diamond Cabins: A Leap in Ropeway Technology

The introduction of 10-seater diamond cabins, a first in India, is a hallmark of this project. These cabins are designed with state-of-the-art features, ensuring maximum comfort and efficiency with a capacity of 1300 passengers per hour per direction. Operating throughout the year, these cabins are equipped to handle all weather conditions, promising to alleviate traffic woes, especially during peak tourist seasons.

Dual Benefits: Boosting Tourism and Urban Mobility

This ropeway project is not just a travel innovation but a strategic development aimed at bolstering tourism and improving urban mobility. It is poised to attract global visitors and facilitate easier movement between Dehradun and Mussoorie, thereby positively impacting the local economy and reinforcing Uttarakhand's reputation as a prime tourist destination.

Commitment to Sustainability

Owais Altaf Syed, Group Director of FIL Industries Limited, highlights the project's sustainable focus and its potential impact. “The Mussoorie-Dehradun sustainable ropeway project is being built with world-class infrastructure. It will be a significant source of employment, revenue, and an attraction for global tourists, considerably contributing to the state GDP," he stated.

FIL Industries Pvt. Ltd. is renowned for its sustainable tourism projects, with their first venture, Skyview by Empyrean in Patnitop, Jammu, exemplifying their commitment to eco-friendly travel solutions. Following this model, the Mussoorie Sky Car Company Private Limited is set to revolutionize Uttarakhand's landscape by merging modern mobility with environmental preservation.

Beyond Transportation: Economic Catalyst

The Dehradun-Mussoorie Ropeway Project goes beyond transportation, encompassing integrated development with hospitality, dining, and retail facilities, aimed at invigorating the economies of Dehradun and Mussoorie.

In essence, this project represents more than just a travel innovation; it's a holistic approach to regional development. The Dehradun-Mussoorie Ropeway Project stands as a beacon of innovative engineering, economic growth, and environmental stewardship, destined to reshape Uttarakhand’s travel and tourism landscape for years to come.

FLY91 has announced an additional weekday daily flight between Pune and Goa for May 2026 to meet increased passenger demand during the summer holiday season. The temporary addition comes as travel activity continues to rise due to vacations, family trips and seasonal travel movement.

The airline already operates daily weekday services on the Pune-Goa route, while weekend operations currently run twice daily. The newly introduced weekday frequency is expected to provide travellers with more options and greater convenience during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

According to the airline, the decision was taken in response to increased movement from holidaymakers, students, families and business travellers. The Pune-Goa route has witnessed steady demand throughout the summer season, making it an important sector within the airline’s growing network.

By adding another service, FLY91 aims to improve schedule flexibility while increasing seat availability between the two destinations. The move is also expected to ease travel during the peak vacation period and support smoother passenger movement.

Pune continues to remain one of western India’s key educational and commercial centres, while Goa attracts a significant number of domestic travellers during the summer months. The additional service is expected to further strengthen connectivity between the two cities and support increasing regional travel demand.

FLY91 said the new flight also aligns with its broader objective of strengthening dependable and safe regional connectivity across underserved and high-demand sectors in India.

The airline currently operates flights across 12 destinations including Goa (GOX), Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Solapur, Jalgaon, Sindhudurg, Kochi, Agatti, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada and Hubballi.
