Delhi-NCR is experiencing intense cold wave conditions, with thick fog and haze covering the national capital and significantly impacting daily life. Dense fog across the region has reduced visibility and disrupted flight operations, especially during early morning hours, affecting both arrivals and departures.

Visuals from various parts of Delhi-NCR showed extremely low visibility, with several areas appearing almost blanketed in fog. Visibility levels dropped sharply at key observation points such as Palam and Safdarjung, making road travel challenging and slowing down daily commutes across the city.

The weather conditions also led to disruptions at the Delhi airport, with authorities issuing warnings about possible delays and cancellations. Major airlines, including Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet, alerted passengers about expected operational challenges and advised them to check flight statuses before heading to the airport.

Adding to the discomfort, air quality in the national capital remained alarming. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board, the 24-hour average Air Quality Index stood at 384, placing the city in the ‘very poor’ category. Several monitoring stations recorded air quality levels in the ‘very poor’ range, while many others slipped into the ‘severe’ category.

The Air Quality Early Warning system has forecast further deterioration in air quality, with conditions expected to worsen to the ‘severe’ category. Authorities have advised residents to limit outdoor exposure, especially during early mornings and late evenings, as cold wave conditions and pollution levels continue to pose health concerns.
