Delhi's love for traditional Indian sweets has a new address with the launch of Dilli Mithai Co. in Punjabi Bagh. Founded by Chef Neelam Saini Sircar and Gaurav Sircar, the brand brings a contemporary approach to India's mithai culture, combining familiar flavours with creative presentations, new combinations and modern gifting formats.
Built around the philosophy “Mithai, but make it irresistible,” Dilli Mithai Co. aims to make traditional sweets relevant to both everyday moments and special occasions. Its approach draws on familiar Indian food traditions, from picking up a sweet after dinner to sharing mithai with family or choosing a box for festivals, weddings and other celebrations.
Rather than changing traditional mithai beyond recognition, the brand focuses on giving familiar flavours a fresh identity through different textures, combinations and presentations while retaining the character of the original sweets.
Gaurav Sircar, Co-Founder of Dilli Mithai Co., said, “Mithai has always been deeply connected to home, family and celebration. With Dilli Mithai Co., we wanted to take those familiar flavours and give them a little more personality, without losing what makes them special. Our vision is to create a brand that can become part of everyday moments as much as celebrations. We want Dilli Mithai Co. to feel like the familiar mithai shop you can walk into regularly, contemporary in expression, but approachable, dependable and relevant to every Delhi home.”
Chef Neelam Saini Sircar, Co-Founder of Dilli Mithai Co., added, “For us, the culinary approach has always been about finding the balance between familiarity and discovery. We work with flavours and formats that people recognise, but introduce something unexpected through texture, flavour or presentation. The idea is not to change the soul of Indian mithai, but to give it a new expression that can appeal to both traditionalists and a younger, contemporary audience.”
The menu brings together traditional mithai, contemporary creations, savouries, namkeen, confectionery, chocolates, dried fruits and nuts. The selection reflects the brand's focus on familiar Indian flavours presented in new ways.
Among the highlights are Salted Caramel Aata Ladoo, which adds a contemporary twist to a familiar sweet, Kaju Katli Emoji, a playful take on the classic kaju katli, and Coffee Doda Fudge, which offers a fresh interpretation of traditional doda sweet. Other creations include Cinnamon Khaja, Thandai Biskoot, Vanberry, Gulkand Malai, Pista Laung and Pista Kunafa Ghevar. Traditional favourites such as Motichoor Ladoo also feature in the collection, giving customers a choice between familiar classics and newer flavour combinations.
Dilli Mithai Co. aims to retain the convenience of the neighbourhood mithai shop by offering different ways to purchase its products. Depending on the item, customers can buy sweets individually or by weight, including the traditional kilogram-based format. Assorted boxes and customisable selections also allow customers to create combinations suited to their preferences.
The brand's gifting collection includes mithai boxes in sizes of 4, 10, 15, 20 and 30 pieces. Bespoke boxes and curated hampers are also available for corporate gifting, festivals, weddings, baby showers and other celebrations. The range is designed to serve different occasions, from small personal gifts to larger festive and corporate requirements.
Located in Punjabi Bagh, Dilli Mithai Co. positions itself as a contemporary neighbourhood destination that retains the familiarity of traditional mithai buying while offering a refreshed retail experience. By combining established Indian sweets with creative flavours, flexible purchasing options and curated gifting, the brand aims to make mithai an accessible choice for everyday consumption as well as important occasions.
