Exciting news for Disney enthusiasts! Imagine strolling through the frosty village of Arendelle from “Frozen” or exploring the vibrant cityscape of “Zootopia” at Disneyland in California. Well, that dream might just become a reality as Disney embarks on a major expansion project in Anaheim, pending approval from local authorities.

The proposed expansion aims to introduce new attractions and immersive experiences to Disneyland without increasing its current footprint. By utilizing existing space, including a 50-acre parking lot, Disney plans to create innovative rides and entertainment options while maintaining the charm of the surrounding residential neighborhoods.

“We know there are stories out there we haven't told yet, like ‘Wakanda’ or ‘Coco’ or ‘Frozen’ or ‘Zootopia’,” said Rachel Alde, Disney’s senior vice president of global development and finance. This expansion presents an opportunity for Disney to bring these beloved tales to life in a whole new way.

The project, known as DisneylandForward, has received a positive recommendation from Anaheim’s Planning Commission and is set to be reviewed by the city council next month. If approved, Disney will invest at least $1.9 billion over the next decade to enhance the theme park experience for visitors.

One of the key objectives of the expansion is to create more immersive experiences for guests, similar to the success of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. By integrating attractions with hotels and other amenities, Disney aims to transport visitors into the heart of their favorite stories.

“What we'd like to do is develop differently. Right now, things are zoned for hotels or for parking. We'd like to make it a more integrated experience because we know that's what our guests are looking for," explained Suzi Brown, a spokesperson for Disneyland.

The expansion marks the first major change to Disneyland since the 1990s when the resort was transformed into a hub for entertainment and recreation. With millions of visitors flocking to the park each year, Disneyland plays a significant role in driving tourism to Anaheim and supporting the local economy.

As Disney continues to shape the future of its California theme parks, fans can look forward to a new era of adventure and enchantment at the happiest place on Earth. Stay tuned for updates as the DisneylandForward project progresses!
