The Indian Ocean is known for its stunning beauty, but every September, it takes things a step further. Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa is all set to host the much-awaited Surfing Champions Trophy once again, bringing world-class surfing back to the legendary Sultans break. The 2026 edition is scheduled to take place from September 4 to 11, promising an unforgettable mix of sport, luxury, and exclusive access.
Now in its 14th edition, the Surfing Champions Trophy stands out as one of the most unique events in the sporting world. It is an invitation-only competition where some of the finest surfers compete across three board disciplines: single fin, twin fin, and thruster, at one of the Maldives’ most renowned reef breaks. The resort serves as the base for competitors, judges, and guests, creating an intimate and immersive experience.
The event first began in 2011 and has since built a strong legacy. Over the years, it has welcomed some of the biggest names in surfing, making it a highly respected platform in the sport. Each edition continues to bring a fresh mix of talent while maintaining a consistently high level of competition.
The 2025 edition raised the bar even higher. Tahitian surfer Michel Bourez delivered a remarkable performance despite an injury, securing victory and leaving a lasting impression on spectators. His determination and last-minute perfect score became one of the most talked-about moments in the event’s history.
Beyond the competition, the experience extends to guests through the Surf’s Up package offered at the resort. This includes expert coaching, guided surf trips, yoga sessions, wellness treatments, and curated dining experiences. The event is also known for its elegant social gatherings, where guests can interact with surfers in a relaxed and luxurious setting.
The line-up for the 2026 edition will be announced in phases in the coming months. As anticipation builds, the event continues to reinforce its reputation as one of the most exclusive and luxurious surf competitions in the world.
