Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of a 104-key Gateway hotel in Agartala, Tripura, expanding the brand’s presence in Northeast India. The brownfield project has been signed with Samashti Hotels & Resorts Pvt Ltd.
The signing also marks the second anniversary of the reimagined Gateway brand, which has been expanding across key business centres and emerging destinations in India.
Commenting on the development, Leah Tata, Vice President & Brand Leader, Gateway Hotels & Resorts, IHCL, said, “Gateway brand expands in the Northeast with this signing, marking the second anniversary of the re-imagined brand. Agartala is witnessing increased demand for hospitality offerings led by the growth of economic activity in the region. This signing is in line with our strategy of expanding across key business centres and emerging destinations. We are delighted to partner with Samashti Hotels & Resorts Pvt Ltd for this project.”
She added, “Gateway has built strong momentum over the last two years across key leisure and commercial markets, serving as the ‘Gateway to the Destination’. With over 60 hotels in its portfolio, the brand remains well poised to reach its guidance of 100 hotels by 2030.”
The upcoming Gateway Agartala will feature 104 keys and will cater to both business and leisure travellers visiting the state capital.
The hotel will include an all-day dining restaurant, specialty restaurant and bar, along with wellness and recreational facilities such as a spa, fitness centre and swimming pool.
For business and social gatherings, the property will offer spacious banqueting venues and meeting rooms, adding to its appeal for corporate events, celebrations and other occasions.
Alluri Harsha Varma, Director, Samashti Hotels & Resorts Pvt Ltd, said, “As the state capital continues to grow in prominence, we are happy to partner with IHCL and introduce the Gateway brand to Agartala.”
Agartala, the capital of Tripura, serves as the state’s administrative, political and commercial hub. The city is also known for its cultural heritage and landmarks, including Ujjayanta Palace and Neermahal.
With the addition of Gateway Agartala, IHCL will have three hotels in Tripura, including two currently under development, further strengthening its presence in the Northeast.
The development adds to Gateway’s growing portfolio as the brand expands across business and leisure destinations. IHCL said Gateway has more than 60 hotels in its portfolio and is targeting 100 hotels by 2030.
